"You know exactly what, Bridgette. The leak happened because of you. You were the source of the private information that made the news." The accusatory, heavy words hung in the air. Bridgette's face turned white. Still, she growled, "And I told you it wasn't me." Her voice was rising. "I didn't do this... I would never do this. Why won't you believe me?" "Then how do you explain this!" I snapped, slamming my hands down. "Eighty percent of this deal, Bridgette—eighty percent gone down the drain. My stomach churned as it reminded me of why I was back after seven years. “Good to know, son. Good to know.” Another cheer erupted and glasses clinked simultaneously from where Brett was playing. A skin-head, bulky man cursed fiercely, face reddened with anger. “He won,” I confirmed. “Yup, poor man. He doesn’t have any idea who Brett is,” Jett concurred proudly. Brett was a pool shark. Brent said that he was holding his head down. "Are you intoxicated right now, Brent? It's just light beers, man," said Vincent. "Is something going on?" asked Violet. "Not at all," said Vincent. Heather wasn't the only one who noticed this, some of the employees were already whispering about it. Heather's frown deepened, her fists clenching as she opened her mouth to caution him. “Miller—” Claire nodded at Miller. "Humor her." Wow… Lyra raised her brows and ground her teeth at the action.
