They were paws—delicate but powerful, covered in fur the color of midnight and starlight.
Jesse blinked. She was standing on four legs. She felt a tail—a real, fluffy, slightly twitchy tail—brushing against her hocks. She looked down and saw her paws. They were black, with a faint shimmer of violet deep in the fur.
"Holy... Jess, you're a tuxedo wolf," Jackie breathed, standing at the edge of the clearing.
Jesse tried to say 'Shut up, Jackie,' but what came out was a sharp, high-pitched yip. She stumbled, her four legs moving in four different directions, and promptly face-planted into a pile of leaves.
