The Mate Agreement
I slip into a random empty paired seat and sink into the window seat, trying to push William Ravenstone out of my head.
Bibah pushes our luggage into the compartment made for them under the seats, then sits next to me with a sigh. She takes off her bucket hat as she gets comfortable, loosening the end of her scarf and then bringing out a shiny new book and a bottle of water from her tote bag. I glimpse the title of the book; Five Survive by Holly Jackson.
The bus continues to fill up steadily, with students seating themselves next to their mates or their friends.
