He is also the Lord of Sabbath, and he shall grant you rest from all your sins and curses, and the labour of your soul. Look, all he needs from you is your heart, that you may love him with the whole of your heart and soul and your neighbour like unto yourself. The word of God in the book of John, chapter fifteen, verse one to five, speaks about this true vine."

A loud groan of pain, almost a scream left Christian’s lips as Cristopher released his hold on the man’s fist, allowing the man to hold onto his wrist in pain. He was well-trained, after all. A futile move of assault like that is like child’s play, like a small toddler’s tantrum hit. “You… how dare you lie to me!” John couldn’t take of the betrayal anymore as he shouted at Merry, pointing a finger towards her way in accusation.

The door swung open, revealing John seated on the couch. A glass of whiskey in his hand despite the early hour. Her eyes lifted to meet mine and, for a brief moment, I noticed how sober he was. Perhaps still in grief about Jessica. “Hey, little doll, good morning,” he greeted. His voice was cold as much as he tried hiding his emotion; it still manifested in his voice. “Are you sure you are alright? John,” I asked. “uhm.. Yeah.. She walked closer to the crowd and poked her head from above two shoulders. She saw her drunk husband on the other side of the table.

The whispers followed me. “Who is he?” “Disgusting.” “He must be one of them.” Baron tried to continue, but his voice cracked. His hands trembled as he turned the pages of his Bible. “Let us read from John chapter eight,” he said, his tone forced. “Verses ten and eleven.” He hesitated, swallowed, and continued. “‘When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?’”
