Chapter One Hundred and Thirty Four: Custody John stood frozen in the hallway, arms crossed, face unreadable. Elijah's phone was still buzzing in his hand, the vibration the only sound in the room. The weight of seven years hung between them like a living thing. John stared at Elijah, waiting. The silence stretched like a wire about to snap. Elijah opened his mouth…closed it…opened it again. "Zhedya is alive." The words fell into the room like stones into still water.

And he didn’t want to talk about it. “So we are all going to the charity thing, right?” “Of course.” John ’s eyes was lit with animated excitement. Judas muttered a silent thanks. Oh, I am definitely having a long serious talk with her later.
