ALICE I flipped through the pages. The pencil in my hand snapped as my grip on it tighten. I did not bother getting myself another one. I can still draw using what's left of this five inch pencil. Jo accepted the paper gently, unfolding it with careful fingers. At first glance, it looked like a simple child’s drawing: messy lines, smudged colors. But the longer Jo stared, the colder her blood ran. It was a drawing of a massive wolf, dark and powerful, kneeling under a broken moon. Its silver eyes were hollow and sad, its paws chained to the ground by thick black tendrils. Beside it, a man, tall, crowned, broken, stood slumped over, clutching his chest as blood spilled from his side.

I pull my knees up onto the couch, tucking one of them beneath me as I flip open the sketchbook to a clean page. With my pencil in hand, I let my mind drift. My fingers begin to move without thought, lines forming the curve of a jaw, the flick of wind in hair, the ripple of water. I draw Jensen, half submerged in the magical lake, eyes soft, smile small and secret. It’s a memory more than a pose, and it is the calm it brings that keeps me focused. Time passes quietly, the only sound the light scratching of pencil on paper. Then there comes a knock, three quick taps at the front door.

Enough. Setting the mug down, I walked to the living room and grabbed my sketchbook from the shelf. I flipped to a blank page and began to draw, not caring what took shape. Lines emerged: long vertical strokes, a figure half-hidden beneath an umbrella. The silhouette grew broader, shoulders hunched, and for a moment, I almost named it. Theo. Of course. I pressed the pencil harder until the page blurred with charcoal and shadow. The sound of graphite on paper mixed with the rain, a private percussion.

He smiled wildly and brought out the papers I would be using for it. “This is it." He said and placed the paper and box in a stool, then placed it on my side. “Draw while I watch you do it." He sat next to me. I unfolded the paper and gently placed it on the stool, then opened the box and picked up the pencil. I made a sketch, then forcefully threw the pencil on the floor and held my head with both hands. "Ouch," I cried and rose from the seat. Adrain jerked up from the seat. “What is going on?"

There was dead silence for a couple of minutes until the entire class bursted out laughing. I picked it up quickly in embarrassment and hid it behind my back. People were laughing loudly, banging the desks and benches. Well, it wasn't that funny. I tried my best with the sketch, but things didn't go according to what I had planned initially. I only managed to draw a crooked circle, a wide 'U' shaped smile, a deep 'J' shaped nose and perfectly round, 'O' shaped eyes. "Which personality did you sketch?" Noah asked trying his best to keep a straight face. The entire class became silent to hear my answer. Somebody commented that it was Donald Trump and I glared at that girl.

He refocused on his laptop until his work was done, eventually stretching his arms and looking at the sofa where Leo was still asleep. Pedro then walked over and saw Leo sleeping soundly, a smirk forming at the corner of his lips. He then grabbed a marker, bent down to Leo's level, uncapped the marker he held, and proceeded to draw on Leo's face. Each stroke of the marker made Pedro want to burst into laughter. Pedro wasn't sure if Leo was truly deeply asleep from exhaustion, as he didn't flinch at all from the ink strokes now adorning his face.
