Amber What kind of smile would I wear for my mugshot? I’d been asking myself that for the past thirty seconds ever since Evalie opened her little mouth and let a nuclear bomb drop on my sanity. Would it be a crazed, Joker-like grin? Teeth bared, eyes wide, insanity seeping through the cracks? Or maybe a dead-eyed smirk, cold and distant, the kind of smile you wear when your soul's been flattened by bullshit so often, it’s just muscle memory now.

I can’t think about anything but that dead body in the other room. Joker leans down, his breath hot against my ear. “I behaved,” he says with that wild grin plastered on his face, as if that’s supposed to make everything okay. His eyes gleam with pride, like he expects a reward. His grin spreads wider, manic, and I groan, exasperated. “What? I did,” he continues, his voice teasing. He looks at me like he’s done something deserving of praise, like a kid who refrained from smashing his toys for once.

“Sorry, sir.” “Wow.” Jackson couldn't help but comment. “Why?” Jackson just shook his head, but he couldn't hide a ghost of a smile at the corner of his lips. Though Jackson tried to stifle that smile, he couldn't help it. He was really laughing at what the girl did. That smile turned into laughter until Jax couldn't hide it anymore. The man laughed loudly. His shoulders danced as he laughed. Jackson's face looked younger now that he had a smile plastered on his face. His tough and scary aura disappeared.

He turned his head and looked back at her, showing her his frown but she gave a light smile and mouthed him a sorry. When his frown didn't change, she made a puppy face and a smile crept onto his face. He could never resist her puppy face. Seeing the smile on his face, Jade gave a satisfied grin and turned her attention to her phone. Shawn grunted and faced forward. He turned on the radio and leaned back on his chair. From time to time, he would glance at Jade through the rearview mirror and see her still on her phone. Each time, his brows would crease and his lips would pout as he felt jealous of the attention she gave to her phone instead of him.

Jasper was taken aback, his dark gaze flickering beneath his thick lashes. But while he showed a second of helplessness and misery, he was suddenly smiling faintly the next second, even raising his brow as if relaxed. "It's alright. I'm fine with it, as long as you're happy and healthy."

Jack turned away slightly too, his lips curling into a smile as if holding himself from laughing. ‘Okay…. what's going on between these two?’

"After all the crap I did for you? You and your whole damn family owe me everything! And this is how you pay me back?" But James didn’t even twitch. There were seriously no changes in his reaction. He still had that same smug irritating mask that he decided to expose now. It seemed like he’d been practicing that in the mirror all morning. Then a slow and chilly grin crept up, dangerous as hell. A smile you see on a villain right before the hero gets wrecked.

To be honest, he was quite good-looking, and he also looked young but the weird smirk that he had on his face made him look like the joker. As I thought of his resemblance to the fictional character, I had the sudden urge to burst into a peal of laughter and I did. I laughed so hard that I felt tears rolling down my cheeks as I stupidly pointed at the man whose smirk had dissipated. In place of the smirk, he now had an annoyed expression glued to his face. I came down from my crazy laughing bout as I cleaned my tears with my thumb, and directed a gaze at the man. "Care to enlighten me about the cause of your amusement?" He asked, his vexed countenance dissipating.

“I will be sending off for a DNA test in our lab within the hour. We will regroup then; Joker will take you to Queenie and Winnie. Soon as he said his name there, Joker walked into the room; the scar that ran down his face was prominent. He looked like a modern-day Viking; his head was shaved to the sides with dark tattoos his long dark blonde hair was pulled back into a man bun. Dressed in dark, naturally distressed jeans and a grey t-shirt, his hardened eyes access me with something that I couldn’t interpret. Silently, I walk to the door, wondering to myself what the fuck just happened. I looked at Joker, wondering if he was just the strong silent type or what his deal was. “So lovely weat
