I had finished reading and was prepared…somewhat. The car was more luxurious than the one I had ridden previously. The same man was on the driver’s seat again. There was another man whose name was James. He was probably a gamma. I let out a small sign as I decided to look at the file, just to occupy myself. Today, I was woken up by Clarissa, the file still in my hand and she had been worried that I would suffer pain in my neck because of how I had fallen asleep. The radio silence from Isaac felt odd but welcoming. I don’t think I could have tolerated his presence after that little incident.

Introducing a New Character – Jonah The next day, a young man named Jonah appeared at the doorstep. He was tall, lean, and carried an aura of confidence. “I heard about what happened,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “I want to help. I study spiritual and psychological protection. Call me a… consultant of sorts.” Sandra looked skeptical. “Consultant? Or another problem waiting to happen?” Jonah smiled faintly. “I only seek to help. I’ve studied Kate’s methods and can assist in protecting your family.”

Their fingers entwined about the teak, a joint grip on their fate. The Aether burrowed forward, her bow cutting smoothly through the calm sea. The wind, born of their own motion, whipped past them, cold and stimulating, bearing the fresh, prehistoric aroma of the deep ocean. It was the smell of freedom. Of potential. Dawnlight glazed Jonah's profile, highlighting the determined jaw-set, the peaceful certainty in his eyes as he surveyed the revealing sweep of blue. He was no longer the hapless architect nor the scandalous partner. He was Jonah Jones, visionary, philanthropist, commander. He was home.

You’d better remember to fulfill your promise, Mr. Sadler.” Jonah cocked his brows once again. “I’m a man of my word.” Sandy instantly laughed aloud. “Hahaha! Of course I believe you. Rest assured and leave Iv with me. I promise to feed her well!” Jonah’s lips curled into a smile as radiant as spring. There seemed to be an inscrutable glimmer of emotions in his dark eyes.

She explains. I honestly didn’t give the camera a second thought after I realized that I forgot it at the barn. I was worried about getting Gabe to the packhouse and then I was busy trying to take care of him while he recuperated. “I also hear that you helped my little girl too.” She beamed at me. Then she grabbed my hand to examine my palm. How did she know? “It’s alright Hannah, you can trust Christine”, Gabe tells me seeing that I am anxious about this conversation. Christine goes on to explain that she works as a researcher for a nonprofit that was established by a coalition of packs in the area.

He says eventually, noises behind him reveal the blonde girl that Flame was arguing with earlier. “Oh please be Darius’ friend.” She grins, pushing the boy out of the way and extending her hand. “I’m Gale. Gale Winters.” “Cain Harden.” I shake her hand quickly before dropping it and turning to the boy again, attempting to be pleasant when I just want him to get the fuck out of my way. “Darius told me we were going Tree Surfing.”

He recognised the lad. “He is the one! Come over here, brothers! Murai!” Jonah cried excitedly, running in quick steps to meet Murai. “Murai, is that you? I am Jonah, your brother.” He needed to be sure. “Yes, it’s me,” Murai said. Jonah exploded, “Murai! Murai! The son of Hugadah. Let us praise Zoe. Murai will conquer our enemies someday. Great Murai!” Jonah smiled and hugged him.

I wasn’t too panicked to miss the way Jonah’s cheeks flushed at his little misstep. “You’re the best,” she said sweetly. She turned to me with a smile. “You haven’t officially met. This is our Luna, Penelope. Luna, this is our dedicated pack doctor and all-round wizard, Jonah.” Jonah looked at me, wide, innocent eyes somehow filled with knowledge and wisdom beyond his years. He smiled and dipped his chin. “It’s an honor to meet you, Luna,” he said. “You’ve already met my brother; I’m Jared’s little brother.”
