In a few minutes, the principal, Mr. Dolan, was making his way through the crowd with some teachers. He held a megaphone which he spoke through as soon as he stopped right underneath where Jade hung. His bald head shone under the bright sun as he told her to come down as calmly as he could.

As I sniffed around his bed stand, I saw something shimmer in my peripheral. I turned and saw a tiny metal substance lodged in the space between his bedside drawer. I quietly pulled it out and studied it angrily. It was the Ambassadorial Badge we give to Ambassadors from other packs in our court. This one had NARCISSE engraved in it. I roared in anger as all the pieces came together in my head. Charlotte came rushing in, shaken by the wicked sound. “What’s going on?” she whispered softly. I heaved angrily. “My father was murdered”, I seethed.

Richard nods, agreeing with Jude, and I shake my head. “You are jealous,” Fred shouts from inside the bathroom and I walk away because this is not going to be pretty for him. Jude is a big guy. If he didn’t wear suits every day for work, I would say he was a lumberjack trying to live in the woods away from civilization. Jude was never the most talkative of us all. He always kept to himself, but a few years ago, something happened and he became a recluse in his own life. “I am not a man whore, nor I’ll ever be, I think women deserve to be treated with respect,” he says and I nod, “Well there are exceptions that could just drown and die,” he says and Richard points at him nodding his head.

Duke intertwined his hand behind his back and moved away. "Before Jacob had me working in the police academy, it wasn't to serve as a real undercover agent spying on what they were up to. I was to monitor Jude. Jude Laurent." Duke lifted a hand to pull the glasses away from his face and let his gaze meet mine. "It left me confused, and still, I have no idea who she really is." Looking away from him, I exhaled. "Jude's parents died in a fire when she was very young. She says it has something to do with us, with the black rose. And I don't doubt that she might be right."

For the elite guard to grace their home meant something monumental was happening—whether a blessing or a curse, she didn't know. Jake stepped forward, bowing low as the commander approached. “Is that her?” the Kingsguard asked, his sharp eyes locking onto Calista. “Yes, Sir Braavos,” Jake replied eagerly. “Her name is Calista Caitlynn. Nineteen, a maiden, and a virgin. I am certain the Alpha will find her suitable.” Sir Braavos signaled his men, and a heavy iron box filled with gold coins was handed over to Jake in exchange for his daughter.
