Then mom and I stayed up to watch The Holiday Cottage, because who doesn’t love Cameron Diaz and Jude Law? It is decked out in silver and white ornaments that make it sparkle and look like something out of a Hallmark movie. The presents were all under the tree, mom still hides them until we wake up. "Check," Abby announced again, her voice matter of fact, concentrating hard on the game. "Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas!" a voice resonated throughout the house. Kiki looked over and Santa Claus himself filled the doorway, dressed in a red suit, sporting a natural white beard, and carrying a sack filled with toys. Smiling executives dressed in business suits--both men and women--from The North Pole Lodge, were with him, carrying packages wrapped in brightly colored paper.

Jade beamed up at him, touched by how thoughtful he'd been. "Come," he reached out a hand. "It's time to open presents." He was more excited than a child. Jade took a seat on the couch, patting the cushion next to her. "Here, Cassandra, sit down. All of you, it's Christmas. Take a load off and enjoy yourselves. It seems Ebenezer Scrooge had a visit from the ghost of Christmas Future." There were chuckles all around. "Okay, Santa, whose present is first?"

He was just dancing in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by girls. "What's your name?" 'You're new here." "Your handsomeness is driving me crazy." Yes, three girls were surrounding him, touching him all over. But no matter how hard they tried, he wouldn't give in. He smirked and grabbed all the glasses from the tray the man in front of him was holding. He downed them one after another - a total of three glasses. "Chill, Cas!" Caspien finally heard Arkin's voice. He was laughing, still clinging to the famous actress from earlier.

Aria's POV "Aria! Over here!" I turned and beheld Aunt Mira waving her arms as she had a great big smile on her face. She was running my way before I could think, and threw her arms open and embraced me. “Oh, dear,” she said , cupping my face. "Look at you! You've grown so much." "Aunt Mira, don't embarrass me." Of course the pups would ask Santa to reunite them with Ethan – Santa was supposed to be able to provide any gift you wanted, even ones parents didn’t approve. She watched with bated breath as the tree farm Santa processed the children’s gift request, praying he wouldn’t make a promise she couldn’t keep. The last thing she needed was for this to be the year the pups found out the truth about Santa Claus. That would only add fuel to the fire. She could already see it playing out in her mind’s eye, tearful accusations of lies and tricks on top of everything else.

And a warm wave of happiness. Elijah tucked the picture beneath the book and stood, heading into the kitchen. Meghan and Starlight were in pajamas, sliding around the kitchen floor in fuzzy socks. Starlight’s kitten-covered white thermal pajamas and her ponytail had him shaking his head. Meghan joined in, adding sprinkles to some of the stacks and stacks of cookies that covered the kitchen countertops. Among the tubes of icing and bottles of sprinkles, a gigantic gingerbread house was being built.

By the time Yves Golding got home, it was already midnight. I was lying in bed, staring at a photo of him and Melissa Lane.
