Christmas is in full swing at the Hale-Cooper and Fitzgerald-James apartment. Like it looks like Santa and his 12 reindeer threw up in our apartment. There are decorations everywhere. Not that I expected anything less from Josie. I mean she makes ‘Winter Wonderland’ her bitch. The tree is real for god sake. Real. Like pine and woody smelling. It fills the apartment day in and out. Oh and if that isn’t enough there is about 16 Christmas soy scented candles in our apartment. There’s bound to be 2 burning at all times in every room.

The smell of damp pine trees gave the air a clean, fresh feeling. A thick blanket of white snow shrouded the houses, the ground, and the trees. The telltale signs of Christmas are everywhere: twinkling lights, decorated houses, trees, a cheery atmosphere, the sporadic playing of hymns and carols, an abundance of green and red colours, flashes of silver and gold, busy ornament stores, and Santas ringing bells at every corner.

Slipping inside, I stand the door open a little so I can listen to the singing. The room is decked out with the paraphernalia of Christmas: holly, mistletoe, a tree; still smelling of resin and Winter, glittering in the golden light of the fire, and decked with the paper knick-knacks the women made. The table is set out with red and green linen, silver candlesticks and a glass-domed cheese-plate. On the sideboard, decanters and glasses sit on a silver tray beside bottles of port, sherry and brandy, a bowl of fruit, another of nuts.

As we drove, we chatted and laughed, enjoying each other's company. When we arrived at the store, we were greeted by a winter wonderland of decorations. There were trees, lights, garlands, and ornaments of all kinds. We spent the morning browsing the aisles, picking out our favorite decorations. Zach was obsessed with the inflatable snowmen, while Catherine fell in love with a beautiful glass ornament. Drew and I wandered the aisles together, hand in hand, picking out decorations that fit our style. We laughed and joked about funny looking Christmas creatures, taking pictures of them as well.

I pushed down the familiar ache of their absence, focusing instead on the evening ahead, on the joy we could still create despite being incomplete. The Great Hall took my breath away as we approached its massive doors. Oscar had outdone himself with the decorations – thousands of lights casting a golden glow over everything, enormous evergreen trees draped with ribbons and ornaments, tables arranged in a U-shape around a central space cleared for dancing. The air smelled of pine and cinnamon, of roasting meat and mulled wine, of Christmas distilled into sensory perfection.

“You don't need to explain everything to me. I'm just happy to see you smiling so much." I nodded, and hurried inside. Damion had handed me two boxes earlier, and I couldn't wait to see what was inside. I took a quick bath and applied a light but gorgeous makeup that gave me that intense and intimidating look. That was definitely what I was aiming for. When I opened the box, there was a green dress. I held it up and was awed at how pretty and expensive it looked. By the side was a bottle of cologne and a small velvet box of jewelry, the other box contained a green heel and purse to match.

I trust Lando to keep his dad out long enough for me to do everything I need. I quickly dressed in my red tracksuit with a white sparkling Christmas tree on the jacket and plants. I couldn’t resist buying them, especially when I saw that the start on the tree would be perfectly placed over my crotch in the front and my asshole. I couldn’t pass that up.
