Jungle Drawing Novels & Stories

Beside the paper and pen lay a thin box with a set of graphic pencils. A drawing kit? I opened the pad immediately and began to draw, the dream pouring through me like water down a cliff. It was vivid and fast, my fingers moving on instinct and guided by the memory that wad etched into my mind. The dizzying swirl of numbers, the images in the holographic screens, the massive glowing codes. I drew it as perfectly as I could, adding the faces of my children. After several minutes, I felt no more inspiration coming, so I sat back and stared at the sketch. My fingers had gone sore, my breathing a bit shallow.

He smiled, “Go for it, babe. I know you’ll make them awesome.” I started on the basement nursery. I drew a dragon surrounding a howling wolf, with a harvest moon in the background. Then I walked to the first-floor nursery and drew a gold dragon flying with a blue sky and the gold sun in the background. In the second-floor nurseries, I drew the Moon Goddess standing over three wolf cubs in one, I drew the Moon Goddess standing over three baby dragons in another, then I drew the Moon Goddess standing over two sleeping baby dragons and one sleeping wolf cub. “Then it must be the fiercest one in the jungle.” Bernice laughs. “He made Grandpa the lion. He says Grandpa protects everyone.” “That sounds exactly right,” she answers, squeezing their hands. “And what about you, my dear? What did you draw?” Bernice thinks for a second. “A garden. With flowers that don’t die, even when it rains.” Their voices fade as they move farther down the corridor and when they’re out of sight, I finally let out a breath. My hands are trembling. Alex walks back to me with a gentle expression. “You did good,” he says quietly.

After the last two adventures in the jungle, Aurelia was quite sick of the thick groups of plants that grew by the minute. Even with the map, it took forever just to make a little progress, or at least that is the way it seemed to Aurelia. Zinjo studied the paper and twirled it around, “I understand the usefulness of this paper but how does one read it?” He flipped it around a couple more times, and Aurelia giggled and turned it around to the correct position.

Sunlight filtered through the thick leaves and seemed to dance on the decaying wooden floor of this jungle hut below. Lush greenery surrounded this small place, giving it a charming look. In one corner, he was sitting on a rough cut wooden board, carving intricate designs into a piece of wood. His hands, rough and untouched by wild life, seemed to move swiftly with practiced ease. However, his eyes were fixed on the door of the hut.

For a little guy, he is way too good. There are all different kinds of drawings that are too neat, I shuffle through them, trying to find one to stick on our fridge in the kitchen. I smile to myself when I come across a picture of him and I then there's Jasmine and even Alex, with and without devil horns— that makes me laugh. I pass by other boyish things, like cars, dragons, dogs, dinosaurs and ninjas, lots and lots of them.

He grinned. "Wow! They look beautiful in your drawing." Jayson complimented, while Grandpa and I chuckled because the drawing is just a stick with a head, stick hands, and legs, but at least they have a dress and long hair. "Good job, young man," Jayson said and ruffled his hair. Gian grinned and kept his drawing inside his bag. "I'll show it to Ana and Alice when they come." "Hurry to finish your food; we are leaving soon," Grandpa told him, and he quickly resumed eating and bid goodbye after eating, and they left.

Bony fingers brushed at my skin, spider legs crawled over me so that I twisted left and right, flailing my arms, slapping at my chest and back, brushing vigorously in an effort to dislodge the invisible webs that seemed to stick to my skin. Once again I risked a look at my surroundings. My stomach lurched as the brilliant colors dazzled me, hurting my head and making me sick. The surrounding jungle held violent color, hues of vivid greens, a riot of colored flowers spilling down tree trunks along with creeper vines. My head pounded and my eyes burned. Reunited: The jungle was dark and a deep green color. It held a coldness to it and it wasn't the temperature. It closed in and wrapped around them making it hard to move through the jungle. The vines seemed to want to tangle you up and stopped you from moving. They struggled to advance even though there was already a small charted path. It looked like it had been cut through only a day ago but already the jungle was trying to erase it. Jonah had pulled out his sword and began chopping at the branches and vines around him.
