That made her laugh. “I’m calling you Sneaky,” she declared as she tore up some more lettuce and placed it in the box. “Sneaky the rabbit, who steals lettuce right from under your nose if you aren’t careful. I’m also going to think of you as a boy, which I’m sure matters greatly to you.”

The little rabbit didn't even know that it was a male rabbit, not a female one, but that's not really a problem here. The giant rabbit noticed the small white furball in front of it and sniffed.
