I took a step forward and Vada flinched, pressed harder against the wall like she thought I was going to kill her. Footsteps pounded down the corridor and Kade burst through the door with three rogues behind him, all of them armed and ready.

Akira's hand tightened on the dagger, and she raised it, ready to stab Kaida. "Now," I said, my voice low and deadly. "Now, Akira. Kill her." Akira's eyes locked on Kaida, and she took a step closer. "Akira, don't!" The fake Kaida screamed, but Akira didn't listen. With a swift and precise, deadly motion, Akira pushed the dagger into Kaida's heart. Kaida's eyes widened in shock, and she fell to the ground, dead for the second time. Akira stood over her, the dagger still in her hand, her eyes flashing with triumph.
