He’s been Alpha for over five years. Clambering up the stairs, I knock promptly on the door. I’m not going to waste any time. Who knows how long he will give me before he gets bored and sends me off. I’m surprised when Kael opens the door. For some wild reason, I expected him to be dressed up, as if this was a proper meeting. Instead, he’s dressed...normally, in a black grey tunic and trousers. Similar to what I’ve seen him earlier, however, there’s no addition of any fighting leathers, and his hair isn’t so smooth. Recently, he’s been running his hands through the rich brown strands.

His voice was warm but measured, the voice of a man who had seen many things and trusted few of them. Kael stepped forward and returned the bow with a nod of his head. "I am Kael Ashford, the Alpha King of the Valdris Territory." He gestured to each of us in turn. "These are my companions. Vex Thorne, Cass Rivera, and Sage Blackwood." The elder's eyes moved over each of us, lingering briefly on me and then on Milo. A woman elder stepped forward next. Her hair was grey and braided down her back, and her eyes were sharp and assessing. "You have traveled far," she said. "We can discuss the reason for your visit privately. After you have settled down and rested from your journey."

IVY’S POV The silence after the fight didn’t last. It never did. It stretched thin—fragile, trembling—like glass about to crack under pressure. Every instinct in my body told me the same thing: Run. But I didn’t. Because outside those broken doors, something waited. And inside… so did he. Kael stood near the entrance, blade still in his hand, shoulders squared like he was bracing against something invisible. The wind pushed through the shattered wood, cold and sharp, carrying the scent of wolves.

The Battle in the Vaults The vault erupted into a blur of fire and ice. Kael lunged for Vidar, his fists igniting with a white-hot flame that hissed against the damp cave walls. The two Alphas clashed—the Primal Fire of the South against the Ancient Cold of the North. Every time Vidar’s spear met Kael’s skin, a shockwave of steam and violet sparks illuminated the darkness.

He also wanted Saka, Len, and Kimi to be involved since they would stay here till the end of April or early May. Cade and I announced how Annalise and Howi would be mated and wished them a happy life, but I didn't think their pairing would be suitable for anyone. Howi took me for another turn on the dance floor, and yet again, I read his lips as he talked to me, "Kaya, the North won, but they won't always. You know I now will have the biggest pack on the continent. Imagine what great things I could do with a pack that big." The dance finished, but he let me read his lips before he left. "I will be seeing you again, Kaya."

And Kai… Kai had killed Valarine, his lover, his obsession, his madness. He plans to use the white wolf’s power and the black wolf’s fur to bring Valarine back from the dead.
