I choked on a sob as he attempted to grip my hand, and then, his eyes rolled back, and his body went limp in my hold. Goddess, no! “What is going on here?” My father’s thunderous voice shook the ballroom. I looked up to find Davon standing beside him, murder written in his eyes as he stared at his father’s lifeless body. “She killed him.” A calm voice filtered through the silence. My blood turned cold. I looked up to find Selene watching everything with an expressionless face. “Princess Aurelia killed Elder Vale.”

I needed answers. “Lilah, you did the right thing.” Linc speaks to me in a soothing tone. “I killed a man.” I mutter, still shocked that I had managed to do such a thing. “WE killed a man.” I point to Daphne “You were going to kill Snare. It’s no different.” Linc mumbles as he checks over Daphne “Snare’s really dead?” I ask with wide eyes. “Colt stabbed him in the heart as I held him.” He nods his head “And he has been burnt.”

Instead of moving to get out of the tree, Alec just looks at me. “Well, come on!” I lower myself to the next branch, the pine needles catching in my coat. “Winter.” I look up at him. “You’re not seriously thinking about running, are you?” “No.” He shakes his head once. “But I want you to know what we’re about to walk into. These people… they’re killers. They’re here for blood.” A shiver runs through me. He’s giving me a chance to save myself, but I can’t do that. How could I ever live with myself if I ran away and abandoned everyone?

“You can see my dilemma then. You killed my brothers, Jon, and all I’ve thought about since that day is watching you take your last breath.” “Then do it!” Jon screamed, vitriol spewing from a place he didn’t know existed within him. “Fucking do it, Sienna. Kill me!” The veins in his neck protruded from stubbled skin, as he rose on shaky legs. He closed the gap between them in only a few strides, his face dangerously close to hers. “Shoot me. You wanted me here and I came. I’ve got nothing fucking left if you don’t let me get her help, so if that’s not in your fucking plans, kill me and get it fucking over and done with.”

She had that same judgmental arch in her brow, her arms crossed over her chest. "Ned Stark died," I choked out, sniffing miserably. "He was the only good one." Ava let out a short, sharp laugh that held no humor. "You haven’t even seen anything yet, Astrid. Wait for the Red Wedding. By season seven or eight, you won’t have any tears left. You'll just be numb.
