“You were born under a rare lunar eclipse.” I blinked. “An eclipse?” Caius nodded. “And according to Aldric… that means something.” I let out a short, humorless laugh. “That’s ridiculous.” He didn’t react. Didn’t contradict me. And that was somehow worse. I shook my head. “No. No, this has to be some kind of mistake. An eclipse doesn’t mean anything.” Caius hesitated before speaking again. “Lira…” His voice was careful, deliberate. “You’ve never shifted.”

He whispered, but Piper didn’t think he even considered her words as his eyes were fixed on her lips. Unintentionally, Piper bit her lower lip. Kai caught her in the action, and Piper paused. She froze with her lips still in between her teeth. Kai slowly blinked and brought his hand to her chin. He traced his glove-covered thumb under her lower lip and pulled her lip free from between her teeth. He didn’t remove his hands from her chin. He watched her lower lip as he pulled it lower. Kai gulped and leaned into her. Piper thought he would kiss her on the lips, but instead, he placed a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth. Piper’s hands slipped to his neck as she closed her eyes.

"That's not too long, this month is already almost over." I said.
