I had finally completed my book, 1001 Dark Tales. The look on my editor’s face was one of disbelief when I announced I was stopping all other books to focus solely on that one. I guess writing 1001 Dark Tales takes a long time, four years to be exact. Still, I had written enough books with the help of my quill that I had more than a steady income.

The title, printed in crude block letters, was Highways, Havens and Highlands by James Hendry. “It’s by a local author,” Jane said. “He was my uncle actually. He collected local folklore. He was hoping to get it published nationally or at least for the local tourist trade, but he couldn’t resist putting in a few things about our little town. Local legends and such, and well, you know how secretive folk are around here. There were objections, and in the end he just had a few copies printed for private circulation. A shame, because it’s really rather good. Anyway, I really think you’ll find it . . . educational. What with . . . what with living here and everything . . . ” Jane tried to smile.

I don't have any pending assignments right now, so I thought I'd read a story on the Good Novel app first. Ever since I couldn't buy physical books anymore, I started reading different stories about fantasy and romance on this app. At least I'm having fun, especially when I'm stressed out over school work and other stuff. I'm reading Miss Thinz's story Her Ruthless Alpha because I love Erdy and Zerra's story. I hope I can find a man like Erdy. They're not just handsome and rich, but they're also really loving and caring. But those kinds of men can only exist in novels.

And in the past few days, I finally felt that I was powerless when I was around her. I closed my eyes not moving to open it. “Valerie open the door or I am coming in.” Justin spoke. My mind was elsewhere. I would probably never leave this castle. Jumping out the window may be better than fighting against fate. If I was lucky the wind would catch me and bring me far away to safety. Far far away.
