“Sorry about that, Alex, Blaise said that Jericho would need your power one day, that’s why he took some of it.” It took Kiran the better part of two hours to bring me up to speed with how evolved Kai and Jericho’s wolves were and what Kai had gone through as king of Scotland and how he’d achieved it. Nothing could have prepared me for it though. It felt made up, but I knew it wasn’t. We spoke until late into the night and that’s when Kiran announced that he better go beg for forgiveness before he had to sleep on the couch again. We finally went upstairs to sleep and I called Levi as I heard Kiran and Adara talk loudly in their bedroom.

He hurriedly raised his hands to gesture. Amelia placed a firm hand on his shoulder, her eyes deep, but her voice calm. "Elijah, don't panic. Take your time and tell me what happened." Elijah had been picked up by the old lady when he was a child. He was born mute and could only communicate through sign language. Now, however, his throat could produce sounds. He was small, around eleven years old, with clean features. He raised his arm to gesture to Amelia, his eyes sharp with a fierce determination.

Elijah would seize on any excuse to punish them. Guilt washed over me in waves. I hadn’t protected them long enough. “No one is to approach her. No food, no water. She tried to kill the heir of the Golden Claws—this will be her punishment!” Elijah’s final order cracked like a whip. I stared at him in disbelief, for the first time realizing just how cruel he truly was. I tried to run, but it was already too late. Elijah had bonded not only with Beta Hendricks, but with his Gamma, Mason, and several warriors as well.

Then, finally, I heard a soft click; the door unlocked. I pushed it open to find Elijah sitting on the edge of a small bed, his face tilted toward the dim sunlight filtering through the tiny window. Even in his exhaustion, his aura of leadership was undeniable. "My king?" I called out. Elijah turned to me, his eyes narrowed in confusion. I stepped closer, but he immediately rose to his feet. "Who are you?" His voice was harsh, hoarse. "We don't have time! You need to get out of here now! Please, hurry!"

I looked at her and asked, “How did you know about that? Who gave you that information?” “You’re brother Isaiah, he wants to help you because he feels sorry for what happened that is why he told me the things that might help me diagnose about what is happening to you” I took a deep breath hearing her answer and shook my head while waiting for her to leave because I am not interested in what she is saying. Those pieces of information are not enough. She can’t trick me. Isaiah or Samael is dead. I defeated him and I know it. I saw it with my two eyes and he is not my brother. I don’t have a brother.

He dropped the bag he was holding and placed a sweet kiss on Kiara’s head, his hand resting on her belly. “Nice to meet you,” He greeted me and shook my hand. “I’m Elijah.” Elijah was a character for sure. He was eerily similar to Robert, in the way that you couldn’t help but to look at him when he entered the room. I think Kiara mentioned he owned a small business, so our lives might be more similar than I originally thought. I managed to keep it all in when I left the apartment, but the moment the car door shut behind me I allowed my emotions to run freely. Undoubtedly the driver would tell Robert about my tears, but I couldn’t bring myself to care.
