I wore it like armor, not for attention, but control.
My hair went up in a high ponytail with a quick twist of the wrist. No makeup, just sunscreen.
Before leaving, I paused at the door connecting Luca’s room to mine and knocked gently. It opened instantly, as if he’d been waiting.
“Hey, sis.” His face lit up with a tired kind of joy.
“How’s the room?” I asked, stepping inside. His space was smaller, but still comfortable.
“It’s nice,” he said, glancing around, then sighed. “But I miss Eva. I’ve never been away from her this long… It’s been like, what? Three days?”
