Nothing pulls me out of a weird mood faster than doodling. As we go through the scene for the umpteenth time, I find myself doing rough sketches of the men in front of me. None of my drawings ever look particularly realistic - my doodles have more of a cartoony, comic book style - but I'm pretty proud of how they turn out. Once I've done Omar and Mr. Grand, I move on to the person I really want to doodle - Orlando. I don't get him right the first time. Or the second. Or the third. At first I can't seem to get his hair right, but by the end it's his eyes that are giving me the most trouble. Nothing I draw can capture how startling and direct they are.

And tonight, her mind was unusually busy. The competition. The next round. Her future. Everything seemed to be changing little by little. Naomi picked up a stack of old sketchbooks. Most of them were filled with practice drawings. Faces. Buildings. Flowers. Random ideas. Years of work. Years of growth. She smiled as she flipped through them. Some drawings were good. Some were terrible. Very terrible. She laughed softly. "I really drew this?" The proportions were completely wrong. The eyes looked strange. The hands looked even worse.

“If you two keep talking like this, you’re going to end up finishing breakfast alone.” Kai let out a soft, low laugh that curled right into her spine. “Tempting.” “Shut up.” Zeke came running back in with a drawing clutched in his hands. “Look, Mumma!” Vienna crouched beside him and took the crayon masterpiece with care and curiosity. “Oh wow. Is this… me?” He nodded proudly. “You are sleeping in my drawing, and there’s a bath tub too!” She blinked, and sure enough — the scribbled blue lines looked suspiciously like a tub. There were little hearts around it.

It felt more intimate than if he’d written a sonnet. “Mummy, you’re thinking loud again,” Keila announced from the table, where she was diligently coloring a new picture. This one had two tall, black rectangles. One had a small, yellow circle at the top. The other had a frowny face in the middle. “Sorry, sweetie. What are you drawing?” “This is you at your work,” she said, pointing to the circle-topped rectangle. “That’s your sunshine head.” She pointed to the frowny rectangle. “And that’s your quiet man. He has a poorly heart.”

“Mommy! Daddy!” We turned. He stood there in his little pajamas, holding a half-drawn sketchbook. His innocent grin warmed our hearts. Damon crouched down and lifted Kael into his arms. “What are you drawing, champ?” Kael giggled. “A family. Look!” He showed us the paper—three stick figures holding hands, with a small one in the middle that looked like a baby. “That’s Mommy, that’s you, and that’s me. And that’s the baby!”

Then what colour is my favourite blabla~ lalala~” Koishi turns his head towards Takeshi who was peeking through the top of the canvas. “But why not a human and your arts?” Takeshi raises his bow in response seeing Koishi tabs in the chin. Making the pain smooch under his chin.

Seemed like they hadn't been touched for a long time. I picked up the first one. It was a portrait of Boomer, drawn as if it was not an artwork but a real picture. The colors blended with each other so well like some professional artist put their heart and soul in it. The second one was of Doser... then another of the boys together… and one of Karen. At the end of the canvases there were written the letters 'H. K.'. H. K. Hunter King. Hunter drew all these? Admiration filled my heart.

Kabir asked, placing his hands gently on Kavish's shoulders. Kavish looked up, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I'm making a family drawing, Daddy! See!" He proudly turned the paper toward Kabir, revealing a colorful array of bear-like figures, each one distinctly different in size. Above each bear, he had written names with arrows pointing to their respective figures: Edhaa, Kavish, Mumma, and Daddy. Kabir's heart swelled with warmth as he took in the artwork. "Wow! Breaking all the crockery kind of helped, huh?" he chuckled, a smile spreading across his face.

Leo turned his drawing board to reveal a drawing of a calm lake. Daniela and the remaining three applauded him. Rocco showed his drawing next, which was a messy combination of red and black. They still applauded him. Alessio turned his drawing board. His drew a picture of four small boys running in a field. He was applauded. Killian turned to Matteo, the ring leader. “Your turn.” Matteo smiled and turned his drawing board. Killian rolled his eyes. As expected. Matteo drew a picture of a woman in a wedding dress, holding hands with four small boys in suits, and beside them was a stick figure of a man who looked like no effort was put into drawing him.

Chris laughed awkwardly, “not as much hidden talents, as working at a school and having to do art projects when I started. I can draw some animals. See if you like them?” I shrugged, “let’s see what you fucking got.” Chris went to draw some animals on a paper to show me, while the rest went to work and painted the room pink. April said it was a light pink or what ever the fuck the color is called. It was pink. Suddenly Kane came up with the brilliant fucking idea to look up templates on the computer. “What about like butterflies? Or ladybugs? Or dragonflies? Those much be easier than a whole animal?” Kane said.
