I couldn’t even hide my smile… it stretched slowly and warmly across my lips before I surrendered the board to him. He took it with careful fingers, like he was receiving something sacred. He stared at it. And I watched his face instead of the drawing. My drawing was small and cute… a tiny family holding hands under a sun, smiling. A mother… a father… and a little child between them. No crowns. No pack symbols. Just love. Just peace. Safe to say it was exactly what I wanted. A life with him and our kids, safe from chaos. “I love it,” he said quietly, eyes still on the drawing.

But now, he was here, standing in front of me, holding out a drawing like a peace offering. With a smile, I took it gently, carefully unfolding the paper. But my smile faded as I stared down at the image in my hands. It was just like his other drawings—dark, stark lines, the same unsettling red and blacks—but this one was different. It wasn’t just a vague scene. It was a face. A man’s face, drawn in heavy black strokes. Dark eyes, a cruel mouth. And beneath it, in the wobbly handwriting of a child, was a name.

She was somewhere around seven or eight, completely absorbed in whatever she was drawing, her tongue pressed to the corner of her mouth in concentration. I lowered myself carefully into a chair near her, mindful of my ribs, and looked at the paper. The drawing was full. Not in a crowded way, in a deliberate way, like she had a clear picture in her head and was working her way across the page with intention. There was a dragon in the top left, red and blocky with impressive teeth. Below it, a woman in a red cape with a pointed hat on a flying broom, carefully coloured with a orange crayon. To the right of that, something with fangs and a dark cape that I was fairly certain was meant to be a v

Jovie was drawing at the table at that moment. Once she saw that Liam was home, she ran to him with the drawing she just drew. She held the drawing in the air and asked as if she was fishing for praise, "Dad, quick, look! Did I do a good job? I drew Mom, Dad, and myself!" Liam crouched down. With one hand holding the cupcakes, Liam picked up Jovie with the other hand and looked at the drawing Jovie was holding. It was three simple figures. Two adults were holding hands with a small person in the middle.

A man, there is a girl in the middle of them and a woman holding hands. Well, I assume that the two in the drawing are women because they have skirts. Of course, who else are these three. It's Kenzo, Yelena and Marga. Their family drawing made by Yelena. I looked at his other drawings, there are mountains and then in the middle is the sun and I think the flower farm below him is the water color used in the drawing. There are also other drawings that look like the three of them again, but the same colors were used in the drawing.

Her expression softens as she takes a step closer, her hands clasped in front of her. “My, and what do we have here” She crouches down until she's practically eye level with a beaming Kira. “It's Pinky, from my favourite cartoon. Isn't it pretty?” Kira gushes, holding up the drawing proudly. Lydia studies the drawing, her smile widening. “Nu, razve eto ne chudesno? You have done a wonderful job, Kira” (Well, isn't this just marvellous) Kira grins, “Ava helped me.”

“Limited edition painting. If you wanna buy it, you gotta place a bid. Or, get them for free if you sign up for the club.” He shrugged, feeling victorious. The people were silent, unsure of what to say. Malorie stepped forward, still gaping at the painting. “You…” she began. “It’s marvelous, isn’t it?” Cain boasted. “It’s...marvelously bad!” Malorie exclaimed. “What the hell is this?” She pointed at the painting consisting of stick figures in different colors. The shapes were off, looking like an artwork by a kindergarten student. “This is comic art!” Cain claimed. “This looks as if a child drew it!” she hissed. “This isn’t how you make a comic strip!”

"What does your new friend look like, Heidi?" Heidi proudly lifted her drawing. It was a crude, childish sketch of a very tall figure standing between two giant green trees. The figure was colored completely in dark gray and black crayons, but the most unsettling part was the face. Heidi had used a bright yellow crayon to draw two massive, perfectly round circles for the eyes.

He turned on the lights and I saw lots and lots of drawing boards. At the side of the room was some awards. “You have lots of awards.”I let out. He shrugged.”They aren’t important.Just from high school art competitions.” “You won them all so I’m sure they’re still important to you.”I corrected. I started removing the coverings from each of the drawing board. I was speechless at the different paintings that greeted my eyes.Some were landscape,some were flowers,some were sea drawings,animals and humans. One was a painting of a man and a woman.The man looks so much like him so no one needed to tell me who he was.

“This was from a free-draw session last week. The prompt was ‘My Family at Home.’” I looked down. Katie had drawn our mansion with meticulous detail. There she was, a stick figure with a yellow dress in the center. To her left, a tall stick figure labeled ‘Daddy’ stood at a big box labeled ‘Office.’ Lines came out of the box, like rays. To her right, a smaller stick figure labeled ‘Mommy’ stood at a box labeled ‘Bakery.’ Similar rays. The three figures were connected by dotted lines, not solid ones. In the corner, she’d drawn a small, smiling sun. But between the ‘Office’ and the ‘Bakery,’ she’d drawn a thick, black, scribbled wall.
