She gave me a warier look before taking the device out of my hands. “What are you giving me this for?” Lucy asked, her voice cracking. “Turn it on.” She gave me another slow look again, and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Like I could actually do anything bad with a fucking tablet. I watched her face pale as her face glowed from the light reflecting off the device. She lifted her head up, and for a second I thought she might cry.

She strolled past the cabinets and studied each of the trophies before walking over to the study table by the window. There was a bookshelf on top of it, containing magazines he had been a part of and a few books he had received as gifts from others. Feeling tired, she sat down on the chair and noticed a laptop and an iPad on the table. The iPad was rather old and formed a distinct comparison with the laptop, which was the latest model. Feeling as though she had seen the iPad before, she picked it up to turn it on, only for the screen to light up immediately.

“A Luna must not seem eager to speak.” A woman near the hearth added softly, “Especially when her position is not yet established.” Rhea looked at her. The woman smiled into her tea. Lady Maerwynn gestured to the cup in Rhea’s hand. “Again. You must receive it with both hands, then lower your eyes.” Rhea looked down at the cup. Moon-white porcelain. Silver rim. Ice and sparkling water splashed violently across the counter, drenching Rose’s white silk cuffs and forcing her to drop her encrypted smartphone onto the dry end of the bar to save her ruined sleeves.

The French lady ventured back to investigate her new master with an endorsing grin. "Critical point in time, mm? How would I look?" Lannie bit her lip, twirling around for her tutor. "Great. Has value records, headings through the Pleasure Mansion, customer profiles..." she grinned, holding the presentation up.
