Ready for any threat. “A body,” Lyra said, her voice cracking. “There’s a body. In the forest. Just beyond the territorial border.” She pointed in a direction deeper into the woods, away from the pack house. “Who’s dead?” I asked, though something in my gut told me this wasn’t going to be simple.

Anxious whispers spread among the students still dressed in their sleep, their faces filled with curiosity and fear. "What's wrong?" whispered Meredith in a hoarse voice, just waking up. Raven shook her head, her heart still beating fast after last night's events. She and Meredith were just getting ready to go to the canteen when a noise echoed from outside the dormitory. Lucas ran up to them, breathing heavily. "Have you heard? The dorm keeper found a body in the back woods!" Raven and Meredith stiffened. "M-corpse?" repeated Meredith in a slightly shaky voice.

"C-Claire..." I looked behind, finding Lagand standing near me. "Lagand...!" Arrows, spears, and claws fought one another, everywhere was painted by red as the grounds filled up with bodies - wolves and humans - dead and dying. I waited for Lagand to come near me as he walked through those bodies, his legs beginning to move faster as I hoped for him to do.

I was dumbstruck and started to look everywhere, and then, my eyes fell on my mate, locked in a glass terrarium. “What?” I was shocked. If my mate is inside that Terrarium, then who is this woman lying dead on the floor? I rushed to check the body and it gave me the biggest shock of my life. “Pauline?” I still couldn't believe it.. Lance was conscious now and he ran to see himself. He fell on his knees, watching his mate dying.. I rushed to break the terrarium and free Aura from Benjamin’s hold. She covered herself before I broke through the terrarium and carried her out. A few of the remaining dwarfs accumulated dead bodies of their fellows.

Several warriors were running toward the cellar. Darren followed them. "What happened?" No one answered. He pushed past them and hurried down the stone staircase. The cellar was cold. Too cold. A strange metallic scent filled the air. Darren stopped. His wolf immediately reacted. Poison. His heart began pounding. He pushed forward. Mariah was lying on the floor. Her body was completely still. Darren froze. "No." A warrior knelt beside her and checked her pulse. His expression changed. "She's dead." The words struck Darren like a physical blow.

Their bodies washed up on the shore the next morning.” “Someone killed them,” I said slowly. “Yes.” “And covered the tracks.” “Yes.” My fists tightened so hard my bones ached. “Someone is playing a dangerous game, Lucien. A very dangerous game.” Lucien exhaled shakily. “I know.”

With my hands shoved in my pockets, I took my seat on her couch, waiting for feedback from my two hunters. And then it came. A loud roar from Liam that sent me sprinting up from my seat. “Piper!.....oh fuck! No oohhh!” He roared out for the second time. It was more powerful than the first. Without hesitation, I darted in the direction of his voice. And my jaw clenched at that moment when my eyes saw it - the body of Piper lying on the marbles of her bathroom. Her blood trailed to my feet. Her heart has been ripped out of her chest, leaving her body lifeless. Liam held her in his arms, roaring her name over and over again.

I remembered the man's face and how horrified he looked in my nightmare. I go along with her, “ Another animal mauling, that’s the fourth one. Pretty sure we have a serial killer on our hands-Oh!” I bump into Darleen, who halts.
