My phone rings, and I grab it from my pocket. “Hello?” I answer. “Hello, is this Maverick?” A woman asks. “Yes,” I say hesitantly. “We don’t know each other, but we have a mutual friend in common. My name is Mrs. Jacobson, and I heard you had helped my friend Sloan for a few months. I would like to see her if that is possible?” The woman asks. “Um, yes, of course, anything to help her wake up,” I replied gratefully. “Thank you. I will call as soon as we arrive in Portland,” she says. “Okay,” I responded. “Good-bye, Mr. Russo,” she says and hangs up.
