Lyra POV I didn’t know if it was still morning or already afternoon. Time didn’t make sense anymore. Everything just felt… long. My body felt heavy when I stood up from the alley. My legs shook a little, like they didn’t really want to carry me anymore. But I still moved. Because staying there felt worse. The market was still loud. Still busy. Still full of people who didn’t care. I stepped out slowly, holding onto the wall for a moment before letting go.

It was the same for all his organs. Every time it got severed it immediately regenerated as if adding salt to his sadistic fornication. As he repeated it again and again, his eyes rolled up and he arched his neck back, as if reaching his climax.

I stared at the book written in Bold black and white font with the title: A New Pet for the Mafia King By Author Liy Lah. I frowned, my fingers tracing over the letters as my mind turned over the words. Why the hell did Damien have this? Of all the books and genres to have, this was the last I expected to find in his meticulously arranged library. A mafia romance? Really? I flipped it open, scanning the first few quotes lines beginning each chapter. "She was nothing but a lost soul when he found her. Her caged soul was too desperate for freedom but too tangled in the chains he had placed around her.

“You think you have a choice, Lilia? You do. But let’s see if you still feel that way when you see what happens next.” Lilia’s chest tightened. “What do you mean?” Damian stood up slowly, his calm demeanor almost more terrifying than any outburst of anger. “I’ll let you see the truth, Lilia. You won’t run from it. Not anymore.” He turned toward the door, motioning for her to follow. “Come with me. I’ll show you everything.” Lilia hesitated, torn between fear and fury. She didn’t know what Damian had planned, but she knew this wasn’t over. She had a feeling it was only just beginning.

Harlow’s voice wavers slightly, but she presses on, “He is the only family we have left… and now that Lucien is gone, we’re all he has left too.” I choose my next words very carefully, “And… Damien, he is like Lucien?” Heidi’s eyes narrow and Harlow scoffs, “He’s worse. Lucien did awful things to us, but only when he was angry, or frustrated, I guess we were his way to blow off some steam. Damien though, he’ll do things to us just for fun. Lilith POV Three days passed in that clinic room and Damien didn't wake up, his body fighting infections and blood loss and trauma while I sat beside him counting every breath like they were prayers I didn't know how to say properly. Carlo came and went bringing food I barely touched and news from the outside world that felt distant and unreal, reports that the Moretti empire was collapsing exactly like Damien had predicted. Soldiers were scattering without leadership to direct them and rival families were moving in to claim territory that had been Salvatore's for decades, the whole criminal ecosystem of Sicily reorganizing itself around the vacuum we'd created.

Perfect for the job Damien couldn't do. So when she pulled the trigger that rainy night, he let her. Stood back and watched. Watched Lorenzo drop. Rain mixed with his blood. Their empire crack.
