What she did not expect was Leo popping his head in like a lost puppy. He kept badgering Capri about having his number and for her to call or text him. After a while and not giving up she finally sent a message. Hey! Without a name or a reason. She has no idea what to say and did not know why Leo was so Adamant about her calling him. Fuck, she was going to starve. She munched on a stick of celery out of desperation as she searched for something editable. She skipped past the hummus and took a chance on opening a carton of tofu and taking a whiff. “God it smells like ass crack.” “Aged ass crack actually,” came a playful voice behind her. Amber jumped out of her own skin and the tofu splattered at her feet. She spun around to see Leo apologizing but looking very amused with no remorse. “I’m sorry I scared you. I’m Leonardo Clemonte, but please God, call me Leo. You must be Miss Dubois I presume. I like you already,” he winked at her.

Xavier slowly raised his dark, bottomless eyes, directing a freezing, razor-sharp glare that pinned Donnie straight against the back of his chair. Donnie immediately forced a bright, comforting smile, trying to look as reassuring as a doting aunt. "If you're dealing with something, just tell me. Maybe I can help ease your mind?" Xavier’s heavy brows knitted into a dangerous line. "When exactly did you become such a sniveling coward?" Donnie felt a massive wave of injustice hit him. "Look, you have no idea how terrifying you look right now. I'm genuinely wondering if I’ll make it out of this room alive tonight."

“Leo! What’s going on?” Donovan turned to me, a twisted smile on his face. “You think he can protect you? You don’t know him like I do.” “What do you mean?” I shot back, stepping closer to Leo. “What are you talking about?” Before Donovan could answer, Leo stepped forward, his voice low and steady. “We don’t have to do this here. Let’s go somewhere private and talk.” Donovan scoffed, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. “Talk? You think I’m here to talk?” He turned to me, his expression darkening. “Lana, you don’t know what you’re getting into, do you?”

His chest rose and fell rapidly, and for a second, he looked like a man lost inside his own body. Luna’s voice softened. “Don’t let your anger control you, Leo.” He turned away, jaw tight, and without another word, walked down the hall and disappeared into his office. The silence he left behind was heavy. Luna exhaled shakily, rubbing her forehead. “He doesn’t mean it,” she murmured. “He just… he loses control sometimes. It’s in him the same thing that was in Dad.” I blinked, still shaking. “What do you mean?”
