Chapter 1 “Oh my God, Elle… where do you even get all these crazy things from?” Penelope’s voice echoes across the living room as she sits cross-legged on the couch, holding up a pair of designer heels like they might vanish if she lets go of them. The red soles catch the afternoon light coming through the windows, shining almost as brightly as the pile of boxes scattered across the coffee table. “These modelling gigs can’t be paying that well,” she adds, narrowing her eyes at the shoes before glancing back at me.

and with that, Maya was kissed until her eyes lost focus. ….. At the wind winders pack…. The guests were streaming in and it was very lively. Lily was donning a long one-shoulder dress. It actuated her figure well and her perfectly dolled-up face looked very stunning. She was welcoming guests with a big smile on her face. She was in a very good mood as she laughed with the guests. Her friends were envious of her and those who were already married wished that they could get pregnant right there. As Lily was continuing to welcome the guests, someone came that made her face drain all color. It was a good thing that the room was dimly lit so no one noticed her expression.

There isn't that much room in the front. "There you guys are. I thought you guys weren't gonna show." Penelope looks at us exasperated. She is very dramatic. She bosses around the other girls and looks for seats with us. After all, she is the captain of the team. She has really put a lot of effort into her clothes. Short skirt, crop top, and heels. That woman never stops looking for a little trouble.

And the weight of it made Ashley’s pulse quicken. Penelope noticed Ashley staring and stepped closer, her voice low, sincere. “Ashley…” Ashley’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Penelope.” Even her calm tone couldn’t hide the swirl of emotions beneath it. Penelope’s gaze shifted to Lily, who smiled innocently up at her. “This is Lily,” she said softly. “My daughter.” Ashley’s jaw tightened imperceptibly. The resemblance—the way the little girl’s features mirrored Jude’s struck her like a quiet blow. Memories she had thought buried surfaced instantly.

Was it bad to sneak a crab puff or two in the middle of your own fake wedding reception? “Excuse me, dear,” a new voice broke through my thoughts, soft and warm. I turned to find a woman standing before me, her presence radiating elegance. She was stunning, with sleek blonde hair swept into a perfect chignon and eyes that sparkled like the ocean. If I had to guess, I’d put her in her mid-thirties—flawless, polished, and every bit the socialite “You must be Elle,” she said, smiling. “I’m Penelope. It’s such a pleasure to finally meet you.”

LESLIE'S POV “Are you sure you want to do this?" Saint asked. “We are almost there but if you want to turn back, then I will." I bit down on my lips and shrugged. “I'm not sure I want to be another Penelope. Besides, I'm a bit curious about this society. I want to know why they chose me." “I think you're forgetting who your husband is, Leslie. Who can dare to touch you in the capital?” He said as he stopped in front of the building. “You don't have to do anything you don't want to.”

Could he trust him? The complications had set her feelings on a spike of doubt. She had to brush it aside till the complicated knots were untied. A man like Charles seemed like a complete gentleman. Far from the man Killian had portrayed himself to be over the past few months. "Ma'am... A Uber is waiting for you out front." Eloise came to deliver. Penelope smiled and twirled in front of her mirror. She wore a peach A-shaped gown that reached above her knees with a slit, showing off her thighs.

“I mean, we did go to the kindergarten together, and the admissions officer totally thought we were married.” Penelope stirs her coffee, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "You should’ve seen the way that woman was looking at us," she says, shaking her head. "She had the most approving smile I’ve ever seen. I swear, she already decided we were the best lesbian parents in the world."

How petty was this man. Love you. The letter concluded with those words. Jumping off the bed with a long yawn, Penelope got ready and just as instructed by 'Mr worry wart',she had breakfast right after with Lise and her parrot mouth mate Felix who wouldn't stop bickering with her non stop. "Can we go out?" Penelope proposed after watching the fifth movie that day. The house had become too stuffy and she ached to walk a little but it seemed both Lise and Felix dismissed the idea.

In truth, it was a deadly angle, and his technique was atrocious. The only saving grace was that Yoyo truly did look good in the shot. At the Sterling estate… From the moment Penelope stepped inside, the air felt suffocating, heavy with dread. Or perhaps it was death itself. Earlier that morning, she had barely gotten out of bed when Eloise called. Her call was like a summons from the underworld as she ordered Penelope to come at once. It felt like she was walking into a funeral.
