The Crimson Letter
“In my room. Crimson wax seal. No name. It was… left on my floor. Like someone had just been there.”
Rhys met her gaze fully then. His expression was unreadable, but something flickered in his eyes. A shadow of knowledge, or maybe warning.
“If you found a letter,” he said, voice quiet now, “maybe you should be asking why it found you.”
A breeze stirred the trees, lifting the scent of wet soil and forgotten roses. She thought of the message scrawled in the notebook.
The truth won’t save you.
