Mia looked up, surprised by the calm steadiness in Luciana’s voice. Luciana offered her a small, understanding smile.
“My mom collapsed when we went to the market in Columbia,” she said, her tone wistful. “It was supposed to be a fun, carefree day. Just the two of us, laughing, shopping, enjoying our time together. And then suddenly, everything changed.”
