Taylor’s Pov

Weddings are usually the best moments of any girl's life. I have been planning my own wedding since I was 5 years old. Don't get me wrong, I am not some sort of freak or anything, but I simply got lucky when i met my prince charming, Kelvin. He is every woman's dream man. He is rich, successful and treats me like the best thing that has ever happened to him.

I knew the moment I met him that I was going to marry him, you could call it love at first sight, and I am finally going to marry him.

“Taylor!” I was dragged out of my thoughts when I heard my best friend Becky's voice. 

“Am almost done!” I yelled back. Becky entered the room and looked at me in awe.

“You look breathtaking” she commented, making me smile.

“I didn't think it would fit this perfectly” I excitedly said. This was the only wedding dress I liked, but it didn't come in my size, so I had to wait for another handmade wedding dress from Japan which arrived at the very last minute.

“Did Dad come?” I asked, the expression on Becky’s face changed, making me guess the answer before she even spoke.

“I'm sorry, Taylor” she said apologitically.

“It's fine”. I brushed it off, as much as I wanted my Dad to be present on the most important day of my life, I understood why he didn't come. When I first introduced him to Kelvin, his only words were ‘’if you marry this useless boy, you will regret it for the rest of your life'. I couldn't understand where those words came from, but it didn't matter anymore. He chose not to attend my wedding and I would forever hold that against him.

“Let's go” Becky said, holding my hand in hers. We walked out of the room and stood outside as we waited for the moment the Bride was supposed to enter. Suddenly, Simon, Kelvin's best friend and the best man at our wedding, came through

“Kelvin is not here yet” he said.

“What?” I asked, looking at my wristwatch. It was 10 minutes passed the time the wedding ceremony was supposed to start.

“Kelvin is never late, ever” I said. I was beginning to feel anxious. Did Kelvin perhaps change his mind at the last minute? He was the most punctual person I knew, so there was no way he would be late for his own wedding. Something was definitely wrong.

“Becky, I need my phone” I said. Becky quickly reached for her purse and gave me my phone.

I called Kelvin, but his phone kept on ringing with no response. I was beginning to have a bad feeling about all this.

“Give me your car keys. I am going to go to his Condo”, I said to Becky. She looked unsure as she looked at Simon.

“Let's give him a few minutes, perhaps he is caught in traffic” she said, but I shook my head.

“Give me the damn car keys” I repeated, running out of patience.

“Fine, but we will go with you”, Simon said. I didn't mind at all and began to make my way towards Becky’s car. Simon was the one driving and during the whole ride, I couldn't help thinking about what was really happening. Did Kelvin change his mind about marrying me at the last minute?

When we reached the Condo, the first thing I noticed was Kelvin’s car parked, which meant he was inside. We walked to the front door,

“Should we ring the doorbell?” Simon asked. I attempted to open the door and when I realized it was open, I entered with Becky and Simon following behind.

“Kelvin!!” I called, but I didn't receive any response.

“Becky, check the backyard and Simon, check the other rooms while I go to his room”, I instructed.

“Wouldn't he have answered already if he was in?” Simon asked. I glared at him angrily but didn't say anything. I began to make my way upstairs to Kelvin’s room. When I got to his room, the first thing I noticed was his wedding suit put neatly on the bed along with his wristwatch and phone,

“Baby!” I called, my eyes glued to the bathroom door wishing he would just walk out of there and apologize about being late, but unfortunately, even when I called his name, he didn't respond. I slowly took steady steps to the bathroom and when I finally opened the door, I was left standing there unable to react in any way.

Kevin was lying in his bathtub in a pool of his own blood with a knife stabbed in his heart,

I nelt down, making my way towards him,

“Baby no!” I whispered in a shaky voice.

“This isn't real. We are supposed to get married today. We need to make sure our plans come to pass, remember. You said you wanted our children to have the best parents, you said we would name our first son Israel, remember? Baby”, my heartfelt heavy. I wanted to scream, but I felt perhaps this was a nightmare and I would wake up soon and all this would just be a bad dream.

“Baby” I touched his face, tracing it. “Baby please wake up”, I spoke softly, when my hand touched the knife stuck on his chest, I let out a loud scream.

Becky and Simon  came rushing in a moment later, when they both saw Kelvin, Becky let out a scream while Simon rushed over to me,

“He is not dead right. He is just sleeping. This is all a plan to make me feel bad. Kelvin wants to scare me, but it won't work because I am strong, right? He is alive” I murmured, feeling my mind going crazy.

“Honey, I'm so sorry” Becky gathered herself and pulled me in her arms for a hug.

“Why are you sorry? He is alive. Just tell me he is?” I practically pleaded.

“Kelvin is gone, but you are going to be alright. Calm down” she said. My eyes drifted off to Kelvin, still in the bathtub. I could barely see or breathe,

“Taylor!” I heard Becky’s distant voice as I fell to the floor running out of air.

“She needs her inhaler, where is it?!” Becky asked, frantically looking around the room while Simon was on the phone,

“Taylor stay with me!” A panicked Becky said. I was barely able to keep my eyes open, 

I wondered if I was going to die. At that point, I didn't mind. Life wasn't worth living if Kelvin was not in it. I took one last look at him before I finally gave in to the darkness and passed out…
