The green light from the ceiling was blinding. It hit Leo’s cradle with a hum that made my teeth vibrate. My son didn't scream. He just lay there, his silver eyes wide as the light poured into his small body. The architect stood in the corner, his face twisted into a grin that looked more like a crack in a mask.
