My magic flares instinctively, a barrier snapping into place just in time as a blast of force slams toward me.
The shockwave sends me sprawling backward, dust and light colliding in the air. My head spins, and when I look up, she is already stepping closer, her magic swirling around her like smoke, eyes glowing silver-white.
“You don’t deserve to live”
Her voice booms through the fields, carried by the storm building above us.
I push to my feet, blue fire sparking from my palms.
“And you don’t get to decide who does!”
