Lilah's POV : Lilah woke up early, the faint sunlight filtering through the thin curtains of their small rented apartment. The quiet hum of village life outside the window felt worlds away from the chaos she’d fled. She shook off the lingering remnants of her restless night, determined to make today productive. She’d been staying here with Robert and Lucy for weeks now, grateful for their support but restless with the feeling of being a burden. Her search for work had been disheartening—every shop and stall in the village market either didn’t need help or couldn’t afford to hire anyone new.

Lilith said taking a sip from her bottle. “What?” “The book of unbinding. It has everything that could bring my husband back. At least not everything but clues and our family history.” Lilith announced. “Why would you write a book about our family? How can you compose a book that can bring Edmond back?” “It's the only way of letting my wounds heal. I need your help sister.” Lilith said. “What do you need?” Dania asked. “I need you to take care of my daughters when I'm dead.”

She approached it cautiously, her heart pounding with anticipation. "This book... it feels important," she said, reaching out to touch it. The moment her fingers made contact with the cover, the symbols flared to life, casting a brilliant light throughout the room. Kai, Allan, Lila, and Seraphina gathered around Alex as she carefully opened the book. The pages were filled with intricate drawings and cryptic text, written in a language none of them recognized. As they studied the book, a sense of urgency washed over them, as if the knowledge contained within was both powerful and dangerous.

Lilly 4 more days later I could hear people talking. I couldn’t make out the words but I could hear voices. I wanted to ask them to be quiet. I was really tired and just wanted to sleep. I tried to open my eyes to see them but I couldn’t do it. I tried lifting my hand but it felt so heavy I gave up. The voices were getting louder like someone was yelling. Someone sounded very mad. What was happening? Who was talking? I feel like I should know the angry voice but I could place it. Maybe a little more rest and I would be able to figure it out. Yea, I just needed some more rest.

LILITH POV: Ah, the capital of the country. I loved being there, and from the looks of it, so did Kaiden. This was his first trip, and I reveled in watching his face light up as he looked at his surroundings, taking in the familiar buildings and sights that he'd seen on television. We were on our way to Kai's condo. He would be joining us in two days, while Esme would be joining us tomorrow to help look after Kaiden while I was at the book events for the book launch and the charity auction.

"They keep you because you are useful, Isabella. It’s the same with me. But the moment you are no longer an asset, or the moment you become too strong to control, they will finish what that trial started." I looked down at my hands. I thought of Derek, of seeing him genuinely happy again. If I can be strong enough to heal him, my life would be perfect once more. "I can't leave yet." I blinked, looking at the huge heavy book. It had to be at least a thousand pages and she wanted me to memorize it.

The city stretched below like a thousand secrets waiting to be claimed. Behind her, the crunch of heels on gravel. “You disappear too easily.” Valentina’s voice was soft, but edged — the same voice that had once cut through smoke-filled council rooms and left grown men trembling. Isabella turned, her dark eyes gleaming in the torchlight. “I wanted air.” Valentina’s gaze flicked to the rose in her hand, the smear of blood across her palm, and then back to her daughter’s face. A small, knowing smile curved her lips. “Air… or silence?”
