The life force of nature vibrated up through the earth, through the dirt, through the moss and fallen leaves and every living thing I came into contact with, filling me up with wild, animal energy. And then I was at the highway. The road that led to the palace grounds was on the other side of the big, eight-lane throughway. A small, nagging human part of my mind wanted to slow and stop. Look both ways before crossing. But Lily wouldn’t have it. She didn’t stop for a second. She didn’t look sideways once at the oncoming cars. Didn’t deviate one inch from the straight line we were running to Nolan. Traffic on the highway was sparse, and the path that Lily kept us on was clear.

They had a group decision to walk that day, therefore the driver was left behind to return home by himself. While Lily and Laura remained in the background, Hudson and Scarlett could be seen walking side by side. The two people walking at the front were having a conversation regarding events that took place in the class. After arriving at a crossroads, they stopped by the roadside to prepare to make their way across, but Lily lost her footing and fell to the ground. She was on the verge of standing, but there was an oncoming car traveling at a high rate of speed. Blood splashed all over Scarlett and Hudson's faces as the car sped over Lily's waist as she was being run over by the vehicle.

“Accusations.” “You’ll get questions,” Lily replied honestly. “But not accusations.” Mara glanced at her. “How can you be sure?” “Because if we punish return,” Lily said, “we turn freedom into a trap.” Mara absorbed that in silence. When they reached the edge of Silver Creek territory, Lily stopped. “This is the line,” she said gently. “Crossing it is your choice.” Mara stared at the familiar markers, stones she’d passed a hundred times without thinking. Her hands trembled.

Yet, I still crossed it. I know I had to find Lily. I had no choice but to find the girl. I shifted once I crossed, knowing that my black pelt will make it more obvious I was not part of their pack, but I will be easier hidden in the shadows. I ran through the trees, picking up the faintest scent of Lilacs. It led me further and further away from safety but closer to Lily. That was… up until my senses got overwhelmed by the smell of coffee. O crap…

Lily My sight became blurry as soon as they injected the transparent liquid to me. The next thing I knew I was in a dark place. Everything was dark. I am lost. I stayed there for like eternity. Then I saw a light, far from where I am standing. I tried to chase it but my steps became heavier every step I took then I couldn't move. I closed my eyes. Just like what my daddy taught me when I feel fear, just close your eyes and breathe. And I did that.

CHAPTER 39 Lily’s POV Warning: Violence It’s the girl on the video, the one who kissed Salvy. I covered my mouth and swallowed hard. I don’t want to vomit. She looks so different. She is wearing a collar and the collar is chained on the desk. She has bruises all over her body and her hair was a mess, some of it was even shaved off. She is staring at the ceiling lifelessly. I look at her chest for any motion and thank God, she is breathing but she doesn’t even blink. Valerius mentioned to me that they lost contact with her before the attack happened. That’s one of the main reasons why they don’t know where the brothers were and what the brothers were planning.

After Lily was rescued by Westley the day before, she had followed the Mouse Sect to the North Moana continent to dig the ancient tomb. After what she had gone through the past few years, Lily was a much stronger person. However, it was still her first time robbing an ancient tomb. She was extremely worried in her heart. Just as she stepped out of the tomb, someone rushed her impatiently, “Hey, Ugly! Hurry up; you’re so slow. Did you cover the coffin properly?” Ever since Lily followed the Mouse Sect, she had to do all the odd jobs. “I…” Lily bit her lips and looked down on the ground before replying timidly, “No, I’m too scared…”

Lucian told Katie who nodded. Lily did not know where she was except that she was in Velrenia. She was running in the middle of the road when her legs give up and she fell on the ground. “Why? Why did you do this? I told you not to leave me,” Lily questioned while weeping like a kid. The Devils walking on the footpath were confused to see a human there.

The surface of the water glowed soft gold — like sunrise caught in liquid. But it was night. Lily dismounted slowly. The closer she walked, the stronger the pull became. Not external. Internal. The water was resonating with her. “Clear the square,” Luke ordered. Guards moved quickly, pushing civilians back. Lily stepped to the edge of the well and looked down. The glow intensified in response. She reached out — not physically. With her power. The golden fire stretched downward like invisible roots. And touched something. Something deep. Something structural.

A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. I looked up and saw Lily Cross, standing there, wearing that soft, calculated smile. She exuded the gentle, yielding aura of an Omega, tinged with a practiced sweetness that seemed designed to charm. "Scarlet," she said softly. "I just finished reporting to the Alpha.
