I was unpleasantly surprised when I came downstairs. Sienna was standing in my kitchen looking at me like she wanted to kill me. She is my brother’s and Alpha’s best friend. She is 25, just like my brother and Alpha, and she has been hanging out with them since childhood. Now, she is clinging on to them like they are a lifeboat. She was devastated when she found out that neither my brother nor Alpha were her mates. That didn’t stop her from trying to become Luna. Eric's POV With her gentleness, Lina tried to provide a sense of security and affection that Serena might not have felt before. Amid the existing tension, this moment became a small light that could potentially change everything. In my view, Lina was an intelligent woman, not shallow like Malisa. That was the charm that made me want to remain with Lina. On the other hand, Malisa was too naive and innocent; I didn’t like women who were practically like her. It felt incredibly boring and unexciting. Malisa seemed monotonous and easily fooled, which made me feel unchallenged.

Chander's sudden interruption brought her back. "Miss Hila, let me help you take care of the other eleven." She didn't feel light headed or drunk anymore. "Why would you help me? You are in no position to gain anything from their deaths and if you are, just shut it and consider yourself lucky that your competition just got lower." She took off the robe and was left covered by a tiny sleeveless navy blue dress that barely covered even half her thighs. The pair of linen dolphin shorts of the same color loosely swayed as she moved towards him.

Her two friends flanked her like silent guards. Lina’s lips curved slightly when she saw Layla. “Well,” Lina said lightly. “There she is.” Layla’s spine straightened instinctively. “I didn’t know this was reserved,” Layla replied calmly. One of the girls snorted while Lina stepped closer. “Playing dumb doesn’t suit you,” Lina said softly. Layla held her gaze. “I’m not playing.” Lina’s eyes flicked briefly over Layla’s face, then down, then back up.

Lydia said. He turned instantly, a flash of relief crossing his face. “Lydia.” She stepped beside him and slid her hand into the crook of his arm. “Sorry I’m late. I didn’t want to keep my Alpha waiting.” Nina’s smile faltered. “And you are?” “I’m Lydia,” she said sweetly. “Knox’s mate. His Luna. I think you’ve heard of me—or is something else the matter?” There was a pause—thick, uncomfortable silence as the word Luna settled into the space between them.

A small boat waits at the shoreline, barely visible. “Go!” Jace shouts. Warriors lift juveniles into the boat first. I hand up the pup in my arms before turning to block another charging enemy. Steel clashes. A blade slices my side. I answer with a killing strike. Lina stands at the water’s edge, arms outstretched. Her shadows surge wider—covering not just us, but the boat, the shoreline, the very reflection on the lake’s surface. It’s like night itself bends around her. “Now!” she gasps.

The girl, Lina from the other Team taunted again. "I'm looking forward to when your defenses become as strong as iron. Just so you know, we'll be doing the same thing, watch out." I retorted and she clicker her tongue and cussed. For 6 straight services, it was a no-touch service ace, they couldn't receive any of it. I'm sure they're scared and too overwhelmed right now.

I stalk up to him and, with my anger at the point of overflowing; I don’t give him a chance as I slap his face hard and growl again, “I will not hide. I will not be treated like just an ordinary female. I am a warrior and whether you like it or not, I am going to protect what I care about.” I then turn from him and stalk out of the war room. I don’t need to look at the table to know where to find the threat, as not only did the scout say where he had crossed the border, but I saw it. I walk down and out of the packhouse to come face-to-face with Brett, Gary, Leo, Arthur, Gus, Pat, Finn and Andrew. They smile and bow. Leo steps forward and says, “You are our sister and you are our Luna. We tr
