Chapter 2

“Is there anything else you would like, sir?"

Her long hair felt soft in his hands. Never in his life had he ever felt such an attraction to a woman- no a mere object bound by desire as he was to her. He was shocked when he just pulled her to him but was even more surprised when she pulled away from his gaze. No one ever could. He wanted her and she was driving him insane.

He then moved to his desk, turned the chair and faced the transparent glass wall that showcased the boisterous city. He felt his eyes turn red and all he could now hear her heart beat and fast flowing blood.

“Leave. Get in touch with either of the three Sang sisters and tell them to come to the office immediately."

"Yes sir, would you like a cup of tea as you wait? “

He did not respond. She bowed again and got out of the office. She could not believe what she had done, she had just rejected the member of the most influential man. Worst of all, she was to call one of his most recent and long stayed lovers. One thing was for sure, she was an inch closer to losing her job.

Five minutes had not ended when she was called to receive the youngest daughter of the Sang family. She wore a revealing red dress and black stilettos. Her long dark hair swayed smoothly with every step she took. Qiao Mo put on a smiling face and guided her to the president’s office. She felt relieved when she closed the doors and went back to her seat.

Like any other assassin, she had done her research. She was iconic in the fashion industry and had her own fashion line and was an investor in many popular cloth and shoe brands. She was rich, famous and was head over heels for Levi Wushi. However, even though she had everything she could ever want, she couldn't get any love or affection from Mr. Wushi.

He would make women obsessed with him and buy them anything they wished for, but never would he give them love nor affection. He considered all women who approached him objects of desire that were bound by materialism. It was impossible and yet they would always try to melt a heart of stone. She recalled her former life when she killed for a living. 'Adolf's shadow' was the name she earned due to how inept and cruel she was to her targets.

She remembered how she felt as if a part of her humanity crumbled off every time she took a life until a time came when she felt nothing. Like the man who felt nothing as he toyed around with women’s hearts, she had no regard for other people and was selfish of her own happiness and pleasure. She then snapped out of her own maze of reminiscence and started her busy day.

The awkward day came to an end but she still had a lot of work to do. As Mr. Wushi left his office, he noticed her, busy as a bee focusing on the running computer as the printer on her left printed the summary of the Bank’s details. He approached her and stood there for a whole three minutes before Qiao noticed him.

"Miss Mo, it is already ten thirty. You should have some food before going home. Why don’t we go for a late supper at the new restaurant?"

She did not look at him but answered, “Tomorrow will be a very busy day. I have to arrange for the board meeting and not to mention the after party at night. I’m sorry sir, but I’m not sure whether I’ll have time to do all this grunt work later.” She felt his glare and rose her eyes. He did not bother to hide his anger at her.

“Miss Mo, you keep pushing my buttons and it seems you’re not aware of the consequences.”

She did not reply.

He bent over closer to her and added, “Let me take you to dinner. Send those documents to your personal email and finish the work once you get home. I have to make sure my secretary doesn’t report the cooperation for overworking its employees to the point of making them neglect their basic needs. “

She did as was told and wore her coat and purse but refused Levi’s offer of a meal and left the building for home.

The chilling wind passed through her red ears as she moved through the crowded boisterous streets for home. The events of what happened were still fresh and recurred in her mind.

She could still remember how every part of her skin vibrated when he whispered into his ear, how his arms held her so tight she could feel his racing heart and how his lustful eyes stared back at hers. Her face blushed even more when she remembered his fingers trace every inch of her back and settle at her waist. The lingering scent of his cologne had not yet dissipated from her shirt and the passing slow wind did nothing less than carry it to her nostrils.

"God. Hila, get a grip before you mess up everything. Be gone thoughts." She shook her head and told herself sternly.

She slowed her pace and immediately turned around to see the person following her. Her instincts she got from being a renowned assassin kicked in and she could now clearly feel those untraceable eyes monitor her every move. When waiting for the supposed tracker to reveal himself and his purpose proved futile, she resumed her steps.

"Have they found out the truth?"

Her heart skipped a beat from the thought. She calmed herself down and gave in to the possibility that her paranoia had gotten the best of her.

"It wasn't just me? There is some-" She muttered to herself as she hastily closed the door.

She could still feel the sting from their eyes stab her neck when she walked. Her cold hands trembled as she took off her coat and shoes. She could tell it was only one person trailing her but it felt frustrating when she couldn't even tell where the person was. Every single time she abruptly turned around, sure of their location, they would disappear into thin air and reappear after she took a few more steps.

'That was no person.' She concluded in her mind.

It was impossible for a person. No matter the training and experience, it would be impossible for a mere human to be able to pull off such a stunt on the world's best assasin without being found out. They would at least be slow enough for her to steal a glance before disappearing and would make some tiny mistakes here and there but whatever was following her didn't give her the luxury of even predicting where it would appear next. The 'being' that followed her was strong enough to send shivers down her spine.

She was too preoccupied in her own maze of thoughts that it was too late to notice the gun, held by a tall muscular man with jet black hair, at point blank.
