The one screw that held the pipe to the wall fell loose, quickly followed by the pipe breaking free from the bracket, and swinging down through the air in a wide ark towards the floor below.

The stone had fractured, creating floating platforms of obsidian-black rock, all humming with residual power. At the center—suspended by threads of magic—stood Marina. No, hovered. Her eyes were black voids. Her hair floated like she was underwater. Veins of dark silver traced her skin, and behind her… the suggestion of wings. Not feathered. Fractured. Selene stepped onto the first floating platform. The air cracked around her, responding to her spirit-wolf bond. “Marina!” her voice rang. The figure turned. A beat of silence. Then she smiled.

And freeze. A woman stands between me and the entity. She is tall, draped in silver and white, her long hair billowing like stardust. A crescent moon gleams on her forehead, and her eyes glow with ethereal light. I know her. I’ve seen her before in my visions, Selene Noctara. The First Lunar Ailura. She looks back at me, her expression unreadable. "You are not ready for this battle, Jasmine." Her voice is firm, yet not unkind. "But I will give you a moment to breathe." Then...She lifts her hand, and the entire cavern erupts in light.

I state flatly. This is not the right time to burn bridges, or I would have smacked him in the head. “How so?” Kaal asks, his brows lifted. “Shawn’s mate has the gift of Time Scent and Memory Echo.” Colin says in my stead, unknowingly putting a halt to a rather harsh reply from me. I then follow along with Kanda behind me. We’re led to the middle of the arena where the crowd cheers when they see us. “Ladies and gentlemen, let us start this show!” the announcer starts to speak. “First we have The Maiden. This will be her first fight. Let us see how she fares.” That must be Maribel. “Then we have The Persian Princess. Made her debut last game and won to fight another day. And then our female champion, The Nubian Pharaoh. Undefeated to this day. What a show this will be.”

I blamed it all on the front door that wasn’t transparent to get the view of incoming and outgoing users. “Oh no, not today!” I took a good look at the stain that already drew a map on my dress’s breastplate.
