His expression showed his usual irritation, but his hand was clenched tight, resting on his knee.
I couldn't help but wonder. What was going on? Was he scared now?
"No need to be scared," Zach suddenly said.
I froze and stared at him in disbelief. But when I looked closer, I saw he was just replying to messages on his phone. I glanced down.
Zayla had been sending him a flood of messages.
One message read, "Zach, what if something really happened to Joey? Aren't you scared?"
Zach replied, "No need to be scared. She's not dead. She just did something wrong, won't admit it, and is hiding away."
