And not just gay—psychotic.” I shrugged. “I’m more heartbroken that people like him are allowed to live good lives.”

But I felt disappointed by the fact that their parents were returning. In my dreams, John repeated his warning. "It's over between us, Tonia. You're not our mate. It's time to focus on other matters affecting the pack." He let go of me, and I awoke. ------ It was evening, and I heard the sound of maids running helter-skelter. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson had traveled on a one-month trip to the neighboring pack, Silverado Pack, for their 25th wedding anniversary. The triplets—John, Julian, and James Jackson—weren't the only children of their parents. They had a younger sister, Martha Jackson, a 22-year-old woman, but she was married to the Beta, Saul Howard.

The perfect front for a body dump spot. Jackson stoops down and probes his finger into a dark substance on the ground, examining it. He turns pale and heaves. My heart stops again. I immediately know. It’s blood. Everybody circles the small pool of dense black-red liquid drained into the dirt. Please let it not be their blood. Please, please, please. A blood trail leaves a distinct route to the small room as if something bloody was dragged through the dirt. It’s like deja vu ― almost the same pattern as the one from years ago, in our hallway.

“Clear. Nobody in here.” He shut the door. Returned her to the dark. “All checked, Father!” Father. Victor. The footsteps receded. Then silence—more suffocating than the violence itself—swallowed the Moretti Mansion whole. Something warm… and cold at the same time. My hand pressed into the sheet beneath us, and I froze. I looked down. The sheet under Lisa was dark. Soaked through. And it was spreading. “Lisa—” Her name came out of me in a voice I didn’t recognize. I shifted her gently, just enough to see, and my stomach dropped. Blood. Not a little. A lot. There was a large amount of blood under Lisa. She was bleeding badly. “Lisa.” I grabbed her shoulder. “Lisa, wake up. Wake up.”

I blurted demanding answers. “Oh but it has everything to do with you Antonella darling. See I need someone’s blood to tap into it. That’s the only way I can get my hands on the powers that rest here” she answered ever so calmly like it was not a scary thing. This woman just mentioned killing me and yet she kept her composure so calm it made me want to claw at her. I could feel fear grip me and panic starting to rise in my chest. I didn’t want to die.

She was holding Jake's sword and it was dripping with blood, her expression filled with delight. "You..." I was very shocked and didn't even know what to say. The other teammates were also very shocked and stood rooted in their spots. "Why are you all staring at me as if I'm dead?" Lisa said as she wiped off blood from her face. "I'm very much alive and I slew the Demonic Wolf as you can see." I watched as Lisa walked towards us with a very warm smile. I watched as she stopped before Jake, handling him his sword before saying, "I told you I was going to slay the Demonic Wolf..."

I felt traumatized by the cold blood bath I had seen happening right before my eyes but it was clear that he did it to let out the pain he felt in his chest, to lash out on the idiots who hurt his mate. Yes, I had found out about everything. I read Lisa's notebook when she was in having her bath in my bathroom when she came for the sleepover. I knew I was intruding her privacy but I couldn't stop the curiousity that spiked in me. After reading the story of their forbidden bond, I understood why it was necessary for them to not get close.

Lisa blurted out suddenly. Terry was taken aback by Lisa's statement. He then realized how pale her face was. Her hand holding the spoon was trembling slightly. "What's the matter?" He held her trembling hand. "Is something wrong?" Feeling the warmth from his hand, Lisa's hand gradually stopped trembling. "I just... suddenly find men like Jackson a little scary." Jackson was so calculative. He had even devised a plan where Aria had no chance of turning back. While it was nice of Jackson to help Serenity, Lisa somehow found him really scary.

Andrea snapped. Lisa struggled against her bonds, but it was no use. The nylon ties were too strong for her to break. Looking around, she noticed that she was in a nondescript square room. There was threadbare carpet covering the floor and a small lamp sitting on a box in the corner. The walls were covered with peeling wallpaper, and it was cold, so cold. Her teeth began to chatter as the door flew open. She knew who it was even before she lifted her eyes to his face. Jackson walked to the shaking woman on the floor and pulled her up by her hair.
