His angry eyes pierced into mine, I receded in discomfort when he clasped my neck. "Where do you think you're going to princess!?." He yells making everywhere shake. "Please, let me go." I beseeched in tears. "I'll destroy you the same way I killed your father, the king." His grip on my neck became tighter, his eyes glowed red as I began to cough out black blood. I was suffocating, my vision became blur, all I could see is darkness taking over me. "Your powers are weak just like your father...." He whispers.

Because Ragnar never let things go that easily. I swallowed and reached for the book again, flipping back to the earlier pages. My fingers paused when I found the ritual. The same one. My eyes scanned the text slowly, more carefully this time. And that’s when I saw it. A single line. It was different from the rest. The symbols were unfamiliar, written in a language I didn’t recognize. My pulse quickened. “What is this?” I whispered. Ragnar moved closer. “What?” I turned the book toward him. “Can you read this?”

I tip-toe and take it out. I look around and finally settle down on a short ladder, which I hadn’t noticed before and open the book. I skim through and to my dismay, find nothing. “Not a single mention,” I mutter under my breath. I shouldn’t have expected to find much. I take a deep breath and begin to peruse again. All the books have little to no mention of mages. Not a lot of things have been written. ‘As if they will keep a record of a monster,’ Ruelle sneers suddenly, irked. I let out a heavy sigh.

You're not fast, neither do you have the ability to lift a plant with your pinky. You're not super smart and you can't control the elements either. You have no effect on time, reality, light or darkness. You're not like the others. But you want to know the best part about that, you my friend, are not like the others. Your power, is the bridge between the light and the darkness. Almost like the product of their unholy intercourse." "So, what exactly is it?" Robert said, finally chiming In.
