Emery’s POV I stared at the sleek black envelope that sat quietly on the table. At first glance I had thought it was an invitation to one of those elite events but I had to consider the drama that was happening in my life and I knew. It wasn't an invitation. It had been an invitation. But not one of those fancy invites that had calm music, champagne or even dancing. When I opened the envelope I was right. It wasn't a fancy invitation but rather it was an invitation to dig deeper into the lane that led directly to the very core of the cruel and brutal world I had grown and lived in.

Who all greeted me with so much excitement and others kept seeing me as Landon’s girlfriend, which I had to deny so many times that I’m just a friend. “You look really cute.” One of them, Blake commented. He had red hair, a few piercings on his ears and nose, and he was quite tall and muscular. Red beautiful eyes and if I didn’t know him, I would say he was quite a celebrity. He also had tattoos all over his torso except for the visible areas. “Thanks.” I took a step back, and he kept coming forward. “Blake, she is off limits.” Another one named Jeremy came in with a bright smile.

After that, he'd stopped eating strawberries altogether. But today… today, he felt like breaking the rules a bit. "I'll take this one then, thanks!" he said while holding up the strawberry crepe. He was about to leave when— "Is that the hidden mini dessert charm from Kim's Collection?" Madison had been about to walk away when she spotted the tiny charm on Bryan's phone. It was "Little Boba", the rare piece she'd been trying to collect forever. She immediately grew excited. Madison had a bit of a compulsion when it came to blind boxes—she always had to complete the set, no matter the cost. She had most of this food-themed charm collection, but the elusive "Little Boba" had yet to show up.

As they saw the secretary's desk, they pointed their fingers. "Is that Mommy's work desk?" they asked in unison. Kara nodded while letting out a laugh. "Yes. Is it cool?” "Of course! Then, where is Daddy's room? Are we going in there now?” Frank and Kara smiled meaningfully. A second later, Frank reached out to Jeremy. The assistant immediately handed over two black boxes decorated with blue ribbons and red ribbons. “What is that, Daddy?” Emily's eyes widened. "Your birthday present."

I said, putting back the top of the box. “She will be happy” Emma gave me a huge grin. “Actually,” she added shyly, the smile fading from her face. “I wanted to give you something you may want to wear too,” she said, reaching into her pocket. “Oh, Emma, you don’t have to…” “Just open it” she put the little box in my palm. So I sat down and opened the box. It was a pair of earrings, small and delicate, with little blue stones in them. They were beautiful.

Mia fiddled with the files she was holding before bringing out a card "This came in when you were out to have lunch" Elle raised an eyebrow at the card. Looking at it, it looked like an invitation card from wealthy personnel who could be hosting a party. As a well-known businesswoman, Elle received different types of invitations every time. Everybody wanted her presence at their party. Elle took the black card swirling it back and forth. Who made this type of invite with dark colors only? Black and ash? What a combination. She opened it to find a weird text 'INVITATION TO GALA— Time– 4 pm — Host Ethan Cephas'.

"Yes." "You're lucky! We have a lot of veterans here. Especially Alaric—he's a pro at setting up tents. He’ll help you out later for sure." Iris smiled. "Ember, I bought a super cool tent online. It’s waterproof, windproof, even heavy-rainproof! Did you forget your sleeping bag?" "I brought one." Emerald smiled sweetly. "I also packed your favorite snacks and comics." "Em, you’re the best! Whoever marries you is going to be one lucky person!" Iris exclaimed happily.

The stranger smirked and chanted a spell. "You're a wi...zard?" the prince asked while stuttering. The stranger ignored him and continued to chant. In a few seconds, heart shaped rubies started to appear above his head. "What are these rubies for? Are you gay?" The stranger chuckled and started to move forward. "I thought you'd automatically know who I am by showing you my symbol. Those rubies are the ember of love. Whoever got those rubies will feel an everlasting and pure love. But my sister's ember possesses a much stronger love," the stranger explained.

They are led to the throne room where the queen of the witches sits. A woman steps forward and approaches the group. “Hello Rex, welcome back and who are they? So I can introduce them to the queen? " asks the woman. “I am Hector. Nice to meet you,” says Hector. “I am Ash. Lovely to meet you,.” says Ash. “I am Ruby, beautiful dress, .” says Ruby. The woman smiles and steps back. “My queen: Rex, Hector, Ash and Ruby from Ember City,” says the woman. The queen motions them forward. Hector and Rex come forward. Ash and Ruby stay back a few feet. All bow lightly out of respect for the queen.
