Chapter Forty-One Rhea stepped out of the pack house and into the vast garden, her sandals brushing softly against the cobblestone path. The early morning sun filtered through the trees, casting gentle rays on the lush greenery that surrounded her. Colorful flowers bloomed in every direction, their fragrance fresh and calming as it lingered in the air. The garden was beautifully maintained, with vines trailing over white trellises and butterflies dancing between the petals. It felt like a sanctuary, far removed from the tension of the dining room.

Grace mumbled, trying to control her erratic heartbeat. "I can see you're quite interested in this garden. Usually, only the royal family can enter, but this garden belongs to my fiancé, so I can accompany you inside if you'd like," Jocelyn said, then extended her hand. "I know it's quite late, but our tea is light. I’m sure you will like it." Staring at the tiny and delicate hand in front of her, Grace couldn't help but shake it. Jocelyn's gentle grip made Grace unwittingly step into the garden, ending up in a round gazebo with a marble floor surrounded by four small pillars, each supporting statues of angelic children.

Moonlight filtered through the trees, casting flickering shadows across the winding stone paths. Moonrise gardens were just as lovely as Moonstone gardens—if not a bit more manicured. Every pebbled pathway was lined with hedges and shrubs, each one pruned into some sort of fantastical shape or another: an elephant, a heron, a perfectly round sphere.

Very few people stopped to talk to us during our walk around the garden, leaving us time to gaze at the exquisite flowerbeds slightly discoloured fountain in the middle of the garden that gave rise to a pleasant ripple of water. A gardener made a hasty bow when we walked past the round hedge he had been trimming carefully.

Their garden was about the size of a small room now, a vibrant oasis of green and silver in the vast whiteness. ~ Lumiére's POV ~ The garden was a serene oasis, a secluded haven within the confines of the sprawling mansion. The tranquility of the space was expected, given that it was a closed off area of the house, accessible only to a select few. The meticulous care bestowed upon the garden was evident, with every flower in full bloom, exuding fragrances that tantalized the senses. For Lumiére, the garden served as a refuge, a place where he could gather his thoughts and clear his head after the endless meetings that seemed to plague his every waking moment.

Every time either of them moves, the smell of them fills the small space; Jon's earthy musk, Arc's clean spice, and it sends heat flooding in my stomach. We should be going home. The maid was astonished by her strength and gasped, “T—This way…Thank you so much, my lady!” They took a narrow path and hurried into the garden. In the heart of the garden, a grand gazebo decorated with cascading roses and ivy stood as the focal point. Twinkling lights and delicate ribbons adorned the structure, dancing in the warm breeze and the soft melody of a distant orchestra. Elegant tables rounded the gazebo, with candles and blooming centerpieces arranged on top. The maid steered Aurora across the garden. On the way, she received many strange looks from all directions.

Each dewdrop clings to the grass like a delicate jewel, reflecting the sunlight in a way that almost makes it seem as if the earth itself is alive, breathing under the warmth of the day. The air is crisp and clean, filled with the gentle fragrance of blooming flowers. On any other day, this would feel like a sanctuary—a peaceful refuge far from the burdens of the castle and the weight of its secrets. But not today. Not with everything that has happened.
