His strides carried him swiftly through the courtyard, his sharp senses tuned to one thing only.
And then he saw them.
The garden stretched out in full bloom, rows of flowers unfurling in delicate petals of crimson, gold, and pale violet. Among them walked two figures: Aria, the Luna of the Levites, her soft voice murmuring, and beside her, the child.
The little girl's silver eyes shimmered with wonder as she bent low to study a bloom, her small fingers brushing lightly across the petals. She gasped with delight, turning to Aria to share her discovery, her voice bright and innocent.
