We dodge into the forest opening and go deep among the trees. For a while no one says anything. I fall to the ground and stare at the dark, lush grass for a while, hypnotized by it as if staring at the vitality and greenness of the grass will undo all the death that’s happened not just back there but over the course of these months.

That girl didn’t just wander into the woods and get killed. Someone—or something—led her there. ~~~ The next morning, I made my first move. Crescent Woods. “Okay, this is officially a dumb idea,” Nathan grumbled as we stood at the edge of the forest. “I second that,” Penny muttered. “It’s barely 8 AM, and you’re already dragging us into a horror movie plot.” I adjusted my hoodie and grinned. “Relax. We’re just looking.” Nathan crossed his arms. “Looking for what, exactly?”

Leah could’ve had made me awaken my powers gently rather than harshly – now remembering the pain I had with my eyes before I passed out. We walked through a pathway of bright flowers, following Leah from behind. The brothers wanted to stay at the edge of the forest. They had some kind of traumatic expression in their eyes. Lyv, meanwhile, was somewhere in the forest hunting meat. I shrugged and continued to follow Leah down to the tiny house. Intrigued, i decided to take the book back to the cabin to show Nikau. When i arrived back at the cabin, i excitedly showed Nikau the book, telling him all about the strange symbols and images that i had seen. Nikau was equally intrigued by the book, but nikau said that he would be leaving to check out on the pack for a few days. He asked me not to join him as he would be travelling in his wolf form. After he left, I settled into my cozy spot by the fireplace in the cabin, I opened the old book I had checked out from the library. The title, "The Lost Village of Ravenswood", immediately caught my attention and I was eager to learn more about this mysterious place.
