Lisa The safehouse looked locked down from the outside. It was a narrow duplex with sealed windows and thick curtains pulled shut, the air trapped inside. My mom and I stood in the living room, looking around at furniture that wasn’t ours. A keypad blinked beside the door. Franklin punched in a code, and the lock clicked behind us. The sound carried through the house. I ran my fingers over the couch arm. Fake leather. Cold. A camera lens near the ceiling flashed as my mom walked into the kitchen. Franklin stood outside with the guards, talking to them while I checked the locked windows and the metal bars bolted over them.

As we climb down the stairs, the smell of Mac & Cheese(my favorite) fill my nose. She leads me to the dinning room. My father and brothers are already at the table. All discussing and laughing merrily. Mom helps me draw my seat and she sits beside me as I take mine. Although I'm glad The Mansion was just a dream, something feels.. Off?. "Would you have some meat balls? " my mother asks and my heart stops at the sound of her voice. It stops because her voice sounded horribly different and unfortunately familiar~and not in a good way either.

Emma’s cheerful voice broke the silence as she held up her sketchpad, oblivious to the heavy air. “That’s beautiful, sweetheart,” I said, smiling at her in the rearview mirror. Alexander didn’t respond, and I noticed Luca glanced at his father.When we pulled into the driveway, the house was lit up like a beacon. The familiar warmth of home greeted us, and as soon as we walked through the door, we were met with the sound of laughter. Damien, Dave, and Lisa—were already in the living room, locked in one of their usual banters. “You can’t seriously think pineapple belongs on pizza, Damien,” Lisa was saying, her tone incredulous.

” Louise asked. “I would like chicken and sauce, that’s what I feel like eating right now. Is it doable?” Mrs. Hampton asked Louise. “Yes ma'am, I can prepare whatever you want within a short period of time. I will be back shortly” she quickly rushed to the kitchen to fix something for Mrs. Hampton to eat. Barbara's mother entered the bathroom and it was a true definition of comfort. The bathroom was large and it had a big bathe inside. The toilet was made different from what she was used to. She got inside the bathe and closed her eyes, the water was warm and soothing.

Tate “Hey, Mom. How’s your day been?” I ask as I lay my rucksack on the floor in the hallway. Mom has just come in from gardening out the front. I know I’ve said this before, but honestly she could afford a zillion gardeners. Still, it’s her passion just like Liam’s mom and they belong to a club. Often they hold fetes and fundraisers for the local kids hospice and other charities. Her face is radiant as she smiles. “It’s been lovely, Sweetheart. Bit hot for me this afternoon though. How was your last day?” She takes off her gloves she’s been wearing for the garden and lays them down on the oak table in our entrance hall.

The sun shone warmly and the people passing by wore genuine smiles. The painful memories and the cutting words began to fade from my mind, like distant shadows growing dimmer by the day. I let go of all my burdens and allowed myself to enjoy a rare moment of peace and comfort. Because of my health, I hired a local woman to help around the house—a kind woman in her fifties called Miriam. She was about the same age as my mom but entirely different in terms of personality. She was plain-spoken and prone to rambling, but her warmth shone through in everything she did.

But i paid no heed to him and wished him good night before going to my room, which was just beside him. Our house was not so big. Its a two room house with a big hall and a large garden. Mom never wanted a two storey building house, as she feared the heigths. A garden that my mom loved. Especially the pink lily one. I smiled at the memory when dad would tuck a pink flower in the back of my head and will tell it to be the blessings from Mom.

He’s been working here for as long as I could remember. He grinned, holding the door open. “The Curtis girls are back in Louiseville.” I waved at him as we rushed in. My mom was behind the counter, going through the books while one of the newer girls was making popcorn and working the slushie machine. “Mom,” Daisy said, lifting the counter top and going to hug our mother. I joined in, inhaling her scent. “My babies, you’re back,” she looked tired but her face lit up. “It finally feels like Christmas.”
