LOVE UNDER CONTRACT
Like maybe, just maybe, what he saw was real.
As the conversation continued, Damien leaned close once, pressing a soft peck against my cheek. It was quick, casual, clearly for his grandfather’s benefit. But my skin burned where his lips touched, and my heart skipped so violently I was sure they both could hear it.
And when he did it again, later, as his grandfather praised us one more time, I knew I was in trouble.
Because each time, no matter how much I tried to play it cool, I felt myself blush. And every time, my chest fluttered, as if my heart had forgotten that this was supposed to be a contract marriage.
