“I’m not done nagging.” “I can hear you from Italy.” His voice rumbled against my chest. “Your voice is loud.” Laughter cracked around us. “I love you,” I whispered, so soft it barely existed. “More than all the gelato in Italy. Even more than your four cats.” He blinked. “Even Pepper?” “Even Pepper.” “I love you too,” he shot back, as quick as he ran. “But I’m still eating gelato.” He tried to pull away, but I wasn’t done. I hugged him again, tighter, until he squirmed.

Not just any cherry gelato. That exact one. Hand-churned, tart enough to make your eyes water, served in a paper cup with a tiny wooden spoon. Dante was already sitting up when I rolled over, eyes glowing in the dark. “Tell me,” he said, voice rough from sleep. “Sour cherry gelato. From Gelateria Savoia. Now.” He was out of bed, pulling on jeans before I finished the sentence. “Keys,” he muttered, dialing Malcolm at the same time.

She muttered and he chuckles. “ Wait till you see it from above,but first,let's get some gelato.” Seeing him like this made her want to forget how she had gotten here. He seems like an ordinary and harmless Italian guy. Fun and flirty but she knew the man beneath the fascade. He slip his hand into her tugging gently and she followed him as they joined a line at a small gelateria. Yasmine chose a pistachio and lemon while Luca went for dark chocolate. They strolled with cones in hand weaving through the crowds until the Ponte Vecchio came into view

Once we had our treats, we too the white iron bistro table in the back. "Salted caramel huh?" John asked after he held out my seat, then took his own. "I've heard that's the current craze." "You've never had anyhing salted carmel?" I asked, my jaw dropping slightly. Candy, cupcakes, ice cream, latte, nothing?" John chuckled at my dramatic response and shook his head. "Nope, the combo never appealed to me. I mean, salt on top of caramel, it just doesn't seem right."
