I hated them.” He walked to her slowly. “You were never invisible.” Her voice lowered. “You were never untouchable.” They stood in the living room now barefoot, quiet, clean light washing over them. He reached toward the ribbon at her throat. Still red. Still knotted. He touched it gently. “Can I?” She nodded. He untied it. The scar was still there beneath her collarbone. A faint crescent. Not from Velvet. From ballet. From trying too hard to be perfect.

A full moon peered outside the courtyard its energy radiated down filling me with hope things were going to get better. I leaned against one of the pillars. There was no way I could get so much sleep that night. I was in this position that all I thought of, all I saw when I closed my eyes was Elena and Andrew together. These thoughts plagued my mind, especially after seeing just how happy, just how much in love they appeared to be in Nubo during their lunch date. I had been a stump in their pasture. Hello readers, thank you for following the story so far. The plot is about to take a dark and intense turn. I made an effort to incorporate the elements of a dark romance, danger, suspense, and maybe a bit of romance. Keep in mind that the title of this book is “TAINTED LOVE” (A Dark Mafia Romance). What is the first thing that comes to your mind? If you believed the book was dark in the previous chapters, well, it has just intensified. LOL.

The door to the bathroom is ajar as I approach it, two female voices chatting away as I near the room. As I push the brown oak door open wider to enter, the two girls, Leah and Aurora, come into view. Leah is busy braiding her long raven coloured hair, whereas Aurora just twists her light brown hair into a low bun. Two of the most popular girls that attend Castleburry High, after Miss Madi that is. Although they might be hating Madison as much as I do, it unfortunately doesn't lessen their disgust for me. Being the sister of their arcgnemis and probably the least popular person at school didn't exactly sit well with them nor for the rest of the school population for that matter.

"Don't let go of this table for a second." I gripped the wood desperately, my knuckles turning stark white. The command felt like a lifeline, something solid to anchor me as everything else spun out of control. My fingers traced the carved patterns in the wood, memorizing their shape, using them to tether myself to reality. Jaxx stepped up directly behind me, his massive, heated frame completely pressing against my bare backside. He leaned down, his lips brushing against the sensitive skin of my neck, trailing slow, biting kisses all the way up to my earlobe.
