And, right in the center of that small room, there was a huge statue of the Goddess, so tall it almost touched the ceiling, made of a dark material that looked like obsidian, her arms sculpted forward, as if she were ready for an embrace.
The wolf's sounds grew louder and louder, almost like howls, as she writhed at the statue's feet. Worried, I averted my eyes from the statue, which had captured my attention almost hypnotically, and knelt beside her, running my hands over her fur searching for any kind of wound.
“What’s wrong?!” I gasped, as she snuggled against my chest, as if seeking some kind of comfort. “Where does it hurt? What can I do to help…?!”
